As the thick length buried deep in her slipped out with a wet sound, Kiara flinched and tensed her lower abdomen.

Kiara tightly embraced the nape of Ael’s neck. As if sensing her feelings, Ael clicked his tongue lowly and loosened the grip of his hand on her hip.
As Kiara’s body settled down, he bounced his hip against her with a soft thump.

Kiara clung tightly to his neck, unable to meet his gaze as she stumbled over her words. It was always like this, but today, especially after everything, she felt too embarrassed to make eye contact after the heat of the moment had dissipated. Regardless of her feelings, Ael remained as calm and composed as ever.
“Your back, is it okay?”
Ael ran his hand down Kiara’s back again, making her shiver slightly. After what they had just gone through, every touch felt incredibly sensitive against her skin. Still, why her back all of a sudden…?
“Oh, I—I must have scratched you while I was half out of it.”
Now that she thought about it, she did seem to have left some marks, which probably appeared on her body too because of their bond. Trying to heal the wounds, she’d only made things worse. Flustered, Kiara pulled her head back to look at him, but Ael just gave a small smile.
“Looks like it’s healed. Though, since it doesn’t hurt like before, I’m not entirely sure. You didn’t feel pain either, right?”
“Well, not really…”
After tracing Ael’s back for a moment, Kiara nodded in a daze. She wasn’t sure about her own back, but Ael’s seemed clean now. The big bruise had faded to just a brownish mark.
“If Ael’s healed… then I must be healed too, right?”
“Good to hear. It’s a bit strange, though.”
Ael shrugged as he helped her onto the bed and picked up her tunic from the floor. Kiara looked at him quizzically.
“…What is it?”
“Even if the wounds don’t hurt much, to really assess the damage, you have to check each other’s condition. At this rate, we really can’t separate.”
“…That’s… true.”
“Well, we just have to hope Maeve finds a solution quickly… Wait, what’s that?”
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door, and Ael’s attention shifted outside. Kiara, thinking it might be Raelin, tensed briefly but then looked puzzled at the forceful knocking.
“What’s going on?!”
Ael raised his voice in response to the pounding on the door. Only then did someone urgently call him from outside.
[Captain, you need to come out quickly. The thing you were worried about has happened!]
