There was certainly nothing wrong with that point.

Giselle had three dedicated maids, and they were extremely sensitive to Giselle’s condition. It would be difficult to deceive their eyes.

Even if it was not them, marks like this would certainly catch the eyes of the other spies too. Then naturally, the arrow of suspicion would undoubtedly turn toward Venya, who saw Giselle from the closest distance and yet had not reported it to Raven.

“Then what should I do?”

“Tell His Highness that I did it because I found the fact that I was engaged to His Highness dreadful.”

“Pardon?”

“Tell him I was trying to drag things out and break off the engagement at a suitable time, but failed, so I felt frustrated and did it in a fit of anger. I’ll tell my parents the same thing.”

Giselle, whose face was more peaceful than anything, stared straight at Venya, who did not know what to do.

“You saw me leaving the mansion by chance while you were going to the bathroom in the middle of the night, found it suspicious, and followed me, then discovered me after I had hanged myself from the tree. Thanks to that, you were barely able to save my life.”

“……”

“Though it’s a little clumsy, this should be enough to avoid His Highness’s suspicion.”

She was openly saying they should settle the situation with lies. Venya looked at her in shock.

Judging by her gaze alone, her mind certainly seemed clear, but the words flowing out of her mouth simply did not belong to someone in their right mind.

…Of course, from the moment she had asked Venya to help her pretend to want to break off the engagement despite wanting to become Raven’s possession and loving him, she had not been in her right mind.

Thinking about it now, those words had been at least somewhat understandable compared to what she was saying now.

“Are you serious about that?”

“Why? What’s wrong with it?”

At Giselle’s calm question in return, Venya was momentarily at a loss for words.

The words that it was wrong, wrong in every possible way, rose to the very edge of her throat, but when she looked at those blind blue eyes that felt not even the slightest guilt or discomfort in the act of deceiving the other person and wounding his heart, they simply would not come out.

After some time passed like that, Giselle, who had been quietly watching Venya, opened her mouth.

“You look like you have a lot to say. If there’s something you want to say, don’t hesitate and say it. I’m fine.”

Facing her face, Venya pressed her lips shut. Then, soon, she asked the mildest and most central question she could bring out.

“Leaving aside the excuse that I happened to discover you by chance, if I tell Master you hanged yourself because you hate him, won’t he be hurt? Is it alright to tell him that?”

She had asked very carefully, but the answer that returned was without hesitation.

“Of course he’ll be hurt.”

“……”

“His eyes will probably flip. His insides will be boiling, he’ll be angry and worried, and he’ll feel miserable, wondering whether I hate him that much, yet he’ll absolutely not want to let me go.”

After adding that, Giselle laughed softly. Deep satisfaction lingered in that smile.

Her blue eyes stared at the pitch-black air where not even the moon had risen. As if she had seen Raven’s frustration and burning desire so clearly that she could grasp them in her hand.

Without realizing it, Venya swallowed dryly. She silently waited for the words that would follow.

“That is what I want, Venya. For His Highness to go mad over me and lose his mind. I’ve been behaving quietly for a while, so it’s also about time to cause a major incident.”

“……”

“I’ll see His Highness’s face after so long. I’m quite looking forward to it. Aren’t you?”

Giselle, who had slowly closed and opened her eyes as though savoring the ecstasy pouring from within her, said so with her eyes sparkling brightly.

Venya was now utterly appalled. She didn’t even have the will left to argue with her.

Giselle was not normal, she was not someone who would listen no matter what was said, and therefore, pointing out the contradictions would change nothing.

As if seeing straight through Venya’s inner thoughts, Giselle softly curved her eyes and smiled. After that, her voice continued, full of certainty that everything would roll along within her hand.

“You only need to tell His Highness exactly as I’ve instructed. Then before you know it, things will have worked out well.”

No matter how much anxiety surged over her, Venya, whose leash had already been seized by Giselle, had no choice but to swallow the sigh that threatened to burst out and do as she ordered.
