Chapter 38
Just as Giselle had expected, Raven was deeply wounded, and just as Giselle had expected, he visited the mansion to see her and requested a private meeting. After that, a strange air of war lingered over the mansion.
Venya felt guilty that she had been the one to make the situation this dangerous. So she couldn’t bear it because she wanted to confirm for herself what was happening between the two of them now.
She wanted to know what result the thing she had done with her own hands had produced, and whether the two people’s love could truly be connected.
Finally, having made up her mind, Venya headed to Giselle’s room while avoiding other people’s eyes.
It was when she carefully stood before the door with her footsteps silenced like that. Through the gap of the closed door, a low moan leaked out.
“Hnngh…!”
Venya’s steps stopped abruptly. She slowly turned her head and stared in shock at Giselle’s firmly closed door.
What she had just heard was unmistakably Giselle’s voice.
‘What on earth is happening right now?’
Her mind repeatedly grew complicated, then went white. Amid that, a familiar yet unfamiliar voice continued.
“Didn’t I tell you? That there would be no path anywhere for you to break off the engagement with me. Did you think you could escape if you ended your life?”
A terribly low and sinister voice pushed its way into her ears. It was also so savage that it made her whole body tremble.
Venya knew the owner of that voice.
Raven Barietsch. It was the very person she had taken as her master.
The moment she realized that, her entire body froze from head to toe in an instant, and she couldn’t move at all. Her heart began pounding violently, as though it would leap out of her mouth. It was the first time in her life she had heard such a frightening voice.
Venya instinctively covered her mouth and looked toward the direction where Raven’s voice had just come from. As if glaring at it would let her see inside.
Giselle’s door was, naturally, firmly locked. Beyond it, the conversation between the two continued.
“You cannot escape from me even through death. Giselle, why don’t you know that fact?”
“Hnn, ahng…!”
“Or will you only understand if I teach you with your body, like back then?”
Raven threatened Giselle. At his anger-filled voice, a sob flowed from Giselle, who had been moaning.
“Please… Please stop. No more…”
“Didn’t you cry in my arms back then? I have never once forgotten the way you clung to me and moved your waist, saying it felt good, so I don’t know what you’re telling me to stop. You enjoyed it too, didn’t you, Giselle?”
“No, no! That’s… I never…”
Giselle’s pitiful voice gradually blurred, as though being overtaken by fear. In the end, her voice could not continue.
Venya couldn’t see Giselle, but the sight of her lowering her head in terror appeared before her eyes.
“Ah, so you mean you never felt anything, and every one of those acts was because I forced you. Is that it?”
“…I was wrong, so please stop and go back. Never again, I’ll make sure something like today never happens again, so please…”
“I can’t do that. You said you hanged yourself from a tree because the fact that you were engaged to me was dreadful. I have no intention of breaking off the engagement with you, and the fact that you are my fiancée will never change. So, who knows when you might do the same thing again.”
Raven savagely pressed and cornered her. Soon, the sound of her quietly sobbing could be heard. It seemed Giselle had finally burst into tears.
“I’ll teach you with your body whose you are, like back then, Giselle. And I’ll also teach you that there is no method in this world for you to escape from me.”
“N-No…! I hate it! Go away! Go, away…!”
As if a physical struggle had broken out, the sound of objects striking the floor rang out noisily. Between them, Giselle’s shrill screams and cries mixed with Raven’s threatening voice.
At one moment, when the two had been struggling for quite some time, hurried footsteps sounded near the door where Venya stood guard. Then the door rattled once.
At the same time, Venya’s body flinched shortly.
She felt anxious that she would be caught like this. But fortunately or unfortunately, the closed door did not open.
“Where are you going? Our conversation isn’t over yet.”
Raven’s voice, holding a subtle trace of laughter, moved away along with Giselle’s voice, as though he had caught her in front of the door.
Not long after the door grew quiet again, the sound of a heavy object landing on the bed was heard, and then fabric began to fall to the floor several times.
Venya knew what that meant. There was only one reason fabric would fall from the bed.
At the moment of realization, her spine chilled at once.
