If it depends on who the opposite Guide is to overcome the guiding allergy, then there couldn’t be a better choice for Daniel than Irene, the original male lead.
Daniel is such a good person that he was prepared to be ousted by Claude just to help me. I wanted to help him too if I could.
Helping Daniel meet Irene so that he can overcome his guiding allergy, and later, having Claude, once he returns, assist Daniel in adapting to the Esper community.
Those were the two things I was determined to do for Daniel.
That’s why I decided to introduce Irene to Daniel.
Well, I had planned to introduce them but…
“It wasn’t supposed to be just the two of us eating, was it…?”
Daniel asked with an awkward smile, a clear look of embarrassment on his face.
And opposite Daniel, there was Irene, glaring at me with an annoyed expression.
I wanted to bring them together as soon as possible, so I set up the meeting for the very next day at lunchtime.
The problem was, compared to S-Class Esper Daniel or F-Class Guide me, non-ability office worker Irene was far too busy.
Irene’s lunch break was barely 50 minutes. Naturally, there was no time to go to a fancy restaurant.
Ultimately, the three of us met in front of the cafeteria at the Center, which was convenient for a quick lunch.

“Irene, this is Mr. Daniel. He’s an S-Class Esper and…”

There really wasn’t much to introduce. I had only met Daniel three times myself, so I hardly knew him any better.
Nor could I tell her ‘He’s the man destined to be your lover according to the original story!’
“…Anyway, he’s really, really nice.”
I clumsily wrapped it up and gave a thumbs up.
Naturally, Irene scoffed and ignored it.
“So, why am I being introduced to this ‘nice S-class Esper’ right now?”
The only reason I didn’t tell her in advance that there was someone I wanted her to meet is that she would never have shown up if I had.
…But if I said that outright, Irene would chew me out instead of her lunch.
So I blurted out the excuse I had prepared beforehand like a rap.
“I heard a heartbreaking story last night that Mr. Daniel, who’s been eating alone every day after being ostracized by other Espers, and though I already had a prior engagement, more friends mean more fun, right? So I decided this morning that we should all eat together, and I didn’t have a chance to inform you because you were busy.”
Irene looked at me with contempt.
Hmph, I’m doing this for your own good…
Even if Irene were as scary as being called the Guide Division’s ‘honey badger’, Daniel stepped up, seeing me so diminished.
“I’m sorry. It seems Miss Rose was concerned because I’ve been alone. I’ll leave so you two may continue your prior engagement …”
“Ah, forget it. It’s not like it’s your fault. This isn’t the first time she’s been thoughtless.”
Irene irritably brushed her hair back and sighed.
“It’s not that I dislike you. I know well enough that Rose’s head is in the clouds, but it’s another matter to impose on someone like you, Mr. Daniel, when we’re not even close to you. I’m just worried she might go around getting scolded by others.”
“What do you mean by ‘head in the clouds’? Are you starting a fight, huh?”
“Um…”
Daniel gently cut off my angry retort.
“It’s okay. I don’t think it’s a bother. I’m actually quite close to Miss Rose.”
Saying this, Daniel looked down at me and smiled brightly.
His kind eyes crinkled softly, creating a charming eye smile. His mouth curved upwards, revealing his white, even teeth.
…Is he an angel or something?
He truly was the original male lead. Every time he smiled, it felt like his beautiful face sprinkled with light.
