“Always needing attention…”
His long, cold hand approached my face.
I should’ve resisted the urge to act up.
What would that hand do to me? Terrified, I squeezed my eyes shut.
But the expected pain didn’t come.

His hand cradled my cheek, tender as if handling something precious.
His red eyes fixed on me. Those eyes I thought were scary…

It was strange. He was tormenting me, yet his gaze seemed somehow warmer…
His eyes seemed to say he’d forgive anything I did…
“Can I stop kneeling now?”

Claude’s perfectly sculpted face twisted in an instant.
“Being lenient means forgiving, which means I don’t have to be punished…!”
“……Raise your arms and kneel properly again.”
“Yes, sir.”
So, it was to be.
No matter how much I hurt, Claude was not the type to care.
He coldly got up and returned to the sofa, crossing his legs.
I grumbled inwardly, resuming my kneeling position with arms raised.

“Why did you hide it?”
Claude abruptly asked that out of the blue.
Already feeling snubbed, I retorted sharply.
“Why do you always speak so cryptically?”
“What?”
“Like, ‘Don’t we have a lot to talk about?’ and when I ask what, you say I should know. I don’t know. Even now, you ask ‘why’ but what’s the reason? How should I know? Do all villains play twenty questions? Asking vague questions and expecting precise answers…”

Though trying to contain his anger, Claude strained the last of his patience to ask.
I was silenced by his words, my rambling coming to a sudden halt.
Calm down, Rose Valentine. This isn’t a question to answer recklessly.
I quickly thought.
This world is actually a game. You’re the worst villain in the universe, who, according to the original plot, kills the female lead and male leads. I avoided you because being near you felt like a threat to my life.
But of course, I couldn’t say that.
As I scrambled for a reply, Claude beat me to it.
“……Now that I think about it, you did say something like that before. When you absurdly claimed Oscar was my Guide.”
“……”
