Chapter 29
***
Delonas had never been afraid of men before.
Having knights with strong power to protect her was reassuring—if anything, she had never once felt fear because of them.
But now, left alone in the room with the Pope,
she had to admit it. She was terrified.
―Swat!
The paddle that had struck her lower body was within the Pope’s reach.
The Pope wasn’t looking at her, but the memory of the punishment was vivid.
She wasn’t confident her legs wouldn’t tremble if their eyes met.
Still, the fortunate thing was that, for now, this person seemed to have no interest in her.
Above all else….
Delonas straightened the brand-new white maid’s dress she had been given as best she could.
Unlike the maid uniforms adorned with decorations used in noble or imperial households, this one was simple, even austere, save for a single purple line—said to be the color of the God of Dreams. Its length was also normal, reaching just above the knees.
It feels a little nice to wear proper clothes, she thought, before Delonas instantly plunged into despair.
Have I really been reduced to feeling joy over a mere dress?
But the problem was that she hadn’t been given any underwear to fully cover her lower half.
‘How could something like women’s underwear possibly be here, right? Hm?’
……For that reason.
She bit her lip and observed the Pope.
―Rustle.
The Pope, flipping through documents, seemed uninterested in her, unlike the priests who, at the mere sight of her, had looked ready to lay hands on her.
……Could it be he doesn’t even know I’m here?
If that were the case, she wished she could stay just like this, not making a sound, remaining still.
The priests had sent her in to attend to the Pope, but, well.
What they had ‘taught’ her was not how to properly serve tea or receive her master’s clothes.
‘Hmph!’
It was supposed to be teaching her how to… not get excited even when hit with the paddle… but it only served as more stimulation.
She trembled. Just as she felt the exposed, uncovered area below feel strangely damp and tried to deny reality—
“Do you intend to keep standing there?”
The Pope spoke. She startled, staggering in place.
The Pope looked up at her.
Their eyes met.
“……!”
Brown eyes……. They held none of the expected emotion, nor the gleaming desire she saw in the other priests.
Just as she hesitated.
“You’re blocking the light.”
The Pope said.
“Ah…….”
At his words, Delonas awkwardly shuffled to the side.
But the Pope narrowed his eyes as if displeased.
The slight frown on his handsome face alone made her heart feel like it was sinking.
Is he angry?
The Pope put down his pen and reached to the side.
The paddle…!
The moment she took half a step back, instead of grabbing something, the Pope pointed to a chair.
“There—”
That’s when it happened.
―Knock knock.
A knock sounded.
“Your Holiness. It’s Priest Petro.”
At the sound, the Pope stopped speaking.
His hand, which had been pointing to the chair, moved to point beneath himself.
“It would be better if you came here.”
The Pope’s work desk, aside from being raised a few centimeters by small adjustable leg supports, had its inner space concealed.
“Th… there? But that’s where your legs…”
It seemed he meant for her to go under the desk, but wouldn’t that bring her uncomfortably close to… that area?
Delonas tried to somehow convey her difficulty.
“It’s not as if there’s no space.”
But the Pope was immovable.
“Your Holiness?”
In the meantime, another knock came from outside the door.
The Pope gave a look that seemed to urge her.
In the end, Delonas moved her leaden feet.
She walked around to the side of the desk where he sat, then reluctantly knelt down.
As the Pope had said, there was some space inside.
But unless the man spread his legs, there was effectively no room unless she completely prostrated herself or crumpled into the space.
As her face showed her distress, the Pope slightly pushed his chair back.
Then, waiting for her to go in, he spread his legs.
“……!”
