Chapter 42
Gentle…?
Was the Pope truly different from the others… or not?
The line between dream and reality blurred, making it impossible to tell.
“Have you perhaps grown soft-hearted?”
If that were the case…
As she unknowingly strained her ears, the Pope’s low chuckle fell over her head.
“How could that be? Given what Beakin has done,”
the Pope continued, as if the very idea was absurd.
“It’s simply that I have no intention of casting them into the abyss all at once.”
“Oh? What do you mean by that?”
Listening to the conversation that was clearly about her, Delonas endured as her heart pounded wildly like a frantic drum.
“While casting a person to the bottom all at once can be entertaining due to the sheer drop, my thinking is a little different.”
After a brief pause, the Pope’s words continued.
“With an object, dropping it from a high place would be the end of it, but a human… feels more pain when descending slowly.”
“Descending slowly, you say…”
A note of excitement colored Lekia’s voice.
The Pope answered that.
“Yes, slowly. When they think ‘This must be the bottom by now,’ you show them what lies below. When they endure and think ‘This must finally be the bottom,’ you show them what lies beneath that.”
Hearing this, Lekia was silent for a moment before bursting into laughter.
“Hahahaha! I have misjudged Your Holiness!”
With a pleased laugh, Lekia, who had firmly gripped her thigh, continued speaking.
“Indeed, isn’t it more pitiful to let this creature pretend to have hope? Above all, violating something completely broken holds no pleasure. What difference is there from f*****g a block of wood?”
Lekia, cackling, reached out and thrust a hand into her lower part.
Three fingers plunged in at once into her still-wet lower part.
Even though the memory of receiving something larger than mere fingers was vivid, the sensation of being stretched open was sharp.
―Squelch.
The obscenely wet sound rang clearly through the room.
Two of the priest’s fingers spread the entrance of her v****a.
Even under the covers, the shame felt as if her insides were laid bare, and Delonas bit her lip.
―Squelch, squelch.
The High Priest scooped out the slick fluid from within her with his fingertips, bringing it out from under the covers.
Delonas couldn’t see it, but translucent strings of it dripped and stretched between the fingers that emerged.
Lekia, who greedily ran the tip of his tongue over them, grinned.
“It’s unbearably sweet. I hope it becomes even sweeter from now on.”
Then the bed creaked.
He seemed to be getting up.
“I have been presumptuous, daring to misjudge Your Holiness’s heart. From now on, it would be fine for Your Holiness to personally oversee its education.”
“Anything for the work of Ephina.”
The Pope answered immediately.
Delonas clenched her trembling fingertips. Fortunately, she was under the covers, so it wouldn’t show.
“Then, in return, I would like to see the fruits of that education about once a week.”
Lekia’s voice sounded from a bit farther away.
He seemed to have left the bed.
“What do you mean by showing the fruits?”
The Pope, in contrast, was still beside her.
That fact made Delonas break out in goosebumps anew.
“Show how much more of her sense of authority as a princess has faded, during the grand weekly prayer of the order every weekend.”
Lekia cackled, closed the door, and left.
―Click.
The sound of the door closing was sharp.
“…….”
Then, after a beat of silence hung in the room…
“Hoo…”
The sound of the Pope exhaling was heard.
This man, who had seemed almost kind, was ultimately someone who harbored such thoughts about me.
Delonas wanted to cry. The reality of being in the very heart of an enemy nation with nowhere to turn struck her anew.
She struggled to hide her reddening eyes.
