“I understand.”

“Good. Then I’ll start investigating properly now.”

Chairman Kwon savored the tea’s fragrance.

“About your remarriage.”

What? Si-heon’s eyes questioned, but Kwon wore an expression of absolute certainty.

“To soar, you’ll need wings. Remarriage will be those wings for you.”

“…”

“Gradually prepare the documents. His in-laws are now capable of surviving, so they won’t cling messily. If they don’t understand their place, we’ll make them understand.”

To remarry, he would necessarily have to divorce Ga-eun.

Divorce.

A pain he had never felt before pierced his heart.

Separating from Ga-eun right after realizing his feelings?

It was absurd.

Yet to prevent leaving Ga-eun, Si-heon had to agree to leave her.

“I’ll prepare.”

“That’s right. That’s my grandson. The one I personally raised.”

Unaware that he was preparing to blindside himself, Kwon looked satisfied, drinking a sip of tea from young leaves.

“Today, the tea tastes especially refreshing.”

***

Ga-eun hadn’t seen Chairman Kwon.

When she, seeming lost in thought, mentioned feeling unwell and wanting to return home, Hwang Tae-ju surprisingly agreed readily and called for a car.

Leaving only a package of traditional Korean sweets wrapped in a grayish-brown cloth in the pavilion, Ga-eun returned home.

‘Home… if this can even be called my home.’

This was Kwon Si-heon’s house, and she was little more than a parasite living in his space.

A mere treatment, unable to even become a person.

“Ha… haha.”

A hollow laugh escaped her.

Emptiness lingered behind the laughter.

Ga-eun slowly moved forward, carefully studying the now-quiet house.

She arrived at Si-heon’s study.

The place where his scent was most intensely present.

Aside from the bedroom, the space where he spent the most time.

A place touched everywhere by his traces.

It was the first time she had entered her husband’s space without permission.

Tak-.

The moment she opened the door, Si-heon’s fragrance rushed out, enveloping her.

Breathing deeply, she cautiously sat at his desk.

The mahogany desk, like her husband, was large, solid, and without unnecessary embellishment.

As she gently swept her hand across its surface, she furrowed her brow.

Her stomach felt uncomfortable and ached again.

Then her eyes caught the desk calendar with the Hwanhee Group logo.

A sudden thought struck her.

‘…When was my last period?’

It couldn’t be a pregnancy.

Her cycle was irregular.

She had skipped periods before due to her condition.

Si-heon had never missed birth control.

But…

A sliver of possibility crept in.

They said no contraception was perfect.

No matter how thorough, pregnancy could occur through rare probability.

If she were pregnant.

If it were his child…

“…..”

Ga-eun gently covered her flat lower abdomen.

It couldn’t be, but… what if?

‘I need to escape.’

How strange to have such thoughts, not with excitement, but with apprehension.

She was already feeling apologetic to a child whose existence wasn’t even confirmed.

If pregnant, the only consolation would be discovering this in Si-heon’s space.

He would certainly not welcome a child.

No, it was beyond not welcoming…

“I’m asking. Are you pregnant?”

His expression from that time was still vivid.

The black eyes swirling with an emotion closer to horror than mere disgust.

Ga-eun inhaled deeply.

Thinking about how she might acquire a pregnancy test without being noticed by watchful eyes.

Her gaze fell on the black fountain pen resting in a high-quality leather pen tray.

Elegant, grand, and weighty.

So much like him.

As she quietly observed it, she stretched out her hand, opened the cap, and neatly tore out a memo page.

[I will not overstep.

I will live remembering only that.

Please be happy.]

She filled the neat handwriting with her deepest sincerity.

If she were pregnant, and even if Si-heon were to discover it someday…

She would absolutely never contact him or demand anything, would never expect him to play the role of a father…

Her earnest plea was simply to be left alone, with the child.

They would separate as contractually agreed.

She hoped this note might hold him back.

If not pregnant, she wished he would be at peace.

She wanted nothing, simply because she was once his wife…

Please be happy.

That was her true heart.

After writing a few more lines, she folded the note and placed it deep within his drawer, closing the door.

At that moment, an alarm appeared on the wall pad. A car had entered the garage.

It was Si-heon.

      So theres 3 possibilities then.
Her aunt dies and she takes care of the child
Ga-Eun has a miscarriage and looks after her aunt
Or she looks afyer the both of them

I genuinely hope shes not pregnant tho coz that means, Si-heon has a reason to be in her life again, he or his grandgather are gonna use this against her and the child is gonna be wanting to see the dad againnxididjr

I'd rather she moves away with her aunt and meets a handsome doctor whos gonna treat her aunt and thsn maybe be in a relationship OR she gets with her childhood best friendd
