She’d always been irritated by her. Si-heon never even looked her way, yet she’d always acted like she was his woman, shooting daggers with her eyes whenever his name was mentioned. Calling herself a sister while abandoning ship the moment the company faced difficulties. Recently, clinging to Jung Yeo-jin as if she were the daughter-in-law of Hwanhee Group.

It was time for things to change.

“Some things are just meant to be,” Yoon Ji-yeon said loudly, locking eyes with Park Ju-yeon.

“Ga-eun, did you know? Director Kwon had many women after him. But they were all treated like air. Trying to flirt, but never even getting a glance.”

As Park Ju-yeon’s face contorted, Yoon Ji-yeon grew more excited.

“Watching him ignore them so thoroughly, I thought he was terrifying. But no—he’s completely devoted to his wife. Pardon my frankness, but he’s absolutely whipped. Though, if I had a wife like Ga-eun, who else would catch my eye?”

Park Ju-yeon bit her lower lip. The hand holding her champagne glass trembled, tension making the liquid slosh dangerously.

“Ju, Ju-yeon. You’ll break the glass,” Lee Yu-mi warned.

Ju-yeon responded with a smile tinged with madness.

“Watch. See who breaks today.”

Surrounded by people, Ga-eun looked like a single magnolia blossom—pristine and elegant.

She would tear off that immaculate mask today.

“It’s going to be very interesting.”

***

Ga-eun left the hall under the pretext of going to the restroom.

Her head was spinning from the people surrounding her, bombarding her with conversations from all directions. Was this how Si-heon always felt?

‘He must have been more sensitive than others because he couldn’t sleep.’

He must have been exhausted. Must have struggled.

As these thoughts crossed her mind, she let out a small, weary sigh.

“Who’s worrying about whom now?”

She’d rest outside for a bit before going back in. The event was almost over; she just needed to endure a little longer.

Thanks to Jinri Association renting an entire floor, there were plenty of spaces to rest.

Ga-eun entered the smallest room farthest from the main hall and leaned back on the sofa.

She closed her eyes, seeking a moment of respite.

“……Eun-ssi!”

A faint voice called from a distance.

“Where on earth are you? Ga-eun-ssi, Ga-eun-ssi!”

At the voice calling her, Ga-eun slowly lifted her eyelids.

She’d been discovered, it seemed.

There was no need to create a scene and draw unnecessary attention.

Ga-eun laboriously rose and stepped outside.

“I’m here.”

“Ga-eun, this is not the time to be doing this,” Yoon Ji-yeon’s expression and tone were urgently concerned.

“What’s wrong?”

“Your aunt has just arrived in the hall…”

In those words, Ga-eun recalled her aunt, Woo Ji-hyang’s younger sister—the woman they knew as her aunt.

Anyone could tell she was Woo Ji-hyang’s sister, especially with those eyes that looked at her like she was trash.

“My aunt should be in America.”

“Is that so? Then who is that person? Though, how could someone like that be in Ga-eun’s family?”

Yoon Ji-yeon finally exhaled a sigh of relief.

“No, you see. Park Ju-yeon was saying this strange person claims to be Ga-eun’s aunt. Stammering, seems a bit lacking in intelligence? But pretty enough to fool everyone. At a glance, she even looks a bit like Ga-eun.”

Ga-eun froze completely.

Right now, what did she just say…

“Good heavens! Can she really go this far? She’s always been prone to unreasonable behavior. It seems her goal was to completely unsettle Ga-eun…”

Yoon Ji-yeon’s words abruptly stopped.

She had just noticed Ga-eun, her face pale, eyes wide open.

“Ga-eun?”

The moment her name was called,

Like a spell breaking, the frozen Ga-eun turned and began to run.

The corridor seemed unusually long today.

‘No, it can’t be. It shouldn’t be.’

It cannot be her aunt.

But her eyes trembled madly as she threw open the massive doors of the Diamond Hall.

“I, I, I was go, going to sh, show you, Gae, Ga-eun. Gae, Ga-eun…”

“Oh my! Look at her pants! Are they wet?”

“My goodness! Is she peeing herself?”

It was her aunt.

The one who had once said Ga-eun was the most precious in the world, her only family.

Ga-eun’s world collapsed right before her eyes.
