Chapter 153
Silence fell.
Among those exchanging furtive glances, Gye Young-cheol was the first to speak.
“Director Kwon, what did you just say…”
Dark eyes slid upward.
Young-cheol instinctively stumbled backward when his gaze met Si-heon’s—who resembled a beast crouched in darkness.
“Making trash like you repeat myself. Should I call you an admirable piece of garbage?”
Young-cheol’s face fluctuated between red and purple.
Despite Si-heon being the Hwanhee Group’s heir, he was still technically Si-heon’s father-in-law.
Wasn’t this treatment and behavior going too far?
Yet he could do nothing against Si-heon’s overwhelming presence, which seemed capable of strangling him at the slightest movement.
‘W-why is he acting like this?’
Woo Ji-hyang likewise couldn’t fathom Si-heon’s sudden behavior.
Though it had pained her to hear rumors about how deeply he cherished his wife, she had been grateful for the luxuries that came with it.
Unlike her parents, however, Gye So-yeon’s back was drenched in cold sweat—she knew exactly why Si-heon was behaving this way.
The same was true for Ju-yeon Park.
When she received the call from Si-heon’s attendant, she had honestly been afraid.
What if he had been sincere about Ga-eun?
If she left home now, would she never return?
Her brother had said it himself—he still couldn’t tell whether Kwon Si-heon was a chaebol or a gangster.
But the moment she heard the location…
She was ecstatic.
A hotel suite at this hour?
The answer was obvious.
It seemed Jung Yeo-jin hadn’t been lying about supporting her.
“Among these people.”
Yes, now that she thought about it clearly, it made sense that he would prefer her—backed by the PK family after exposing that low-class woman’s true identity—over an illegitimate daughter with nothing to her name.
“I’ll give this chance to only one person.”
The moment they entered this place and saw Si-heon, they knew they were wrong.
“Beg forgiveness from my wife.”
Si-heon spoke while gazing at their terrified faces with emotionless eyes.
“A chance to live the rest of your life as a proper human being.”
As soon as his words fell, bodyguards in black suits blocked the path from the living room to the entrance.
“Only one person – the one who licks the floor the cleanest.”
Though everyone wore expressions of horror, Si-heon continued speaking with an impassive face, utterly indifferent to their reactions.
“Time limit: 10 minutes. Director Noh, check it.”
“Yes, Executive Director.”
Noh man-su pressed the stopwatch button.
“9 minutes and 57 seconds remaining.”
Those branded as ‘trash’ could only look at each other with shock and bewilderment in their eyes, none daring to step forward.
“There are too many ways to punish those who lived under the same roof as family while tormenting our Ga-eun – it makes my mouth tired just listing them.”
At these words, Gye Youngcheol and Woo Ji-hyang’s faces turned deathly pale.
“I hear you had an affair despite being engaged, then registered the child from that relationship as an older sister, while making the real older sister the younger one on paper – turning her into an illegitimate child.”
How… How did he know that?!
His dark eyes moved past the dumbfounded couple to Park Ju-yeon.
“And you, worthless trash who broke our Ga-eun’s wrist, getting carried away because your insignificant company barely made it into the business rankings.”
Park Ju-yeon’s lips trembled uncontrollably.
“Since my wife’s wrist was broken… I look forward to seeing which parts of you will break. I promise not to disappoint.”
Next, Si-heon’s gaze turned to Lee Yu-mi.
“And you, the parasite who clung to that trash, spreading rumors about my wife being illegitimate after hearing it somewhere – I’ll take special care of you and your second cousin as a bonus service.”
Unable to withstand his penetrating gaze, Lee Yu-mi collapsed to the floor.
As her line of sight lowered, she noticed the wine scattered like drops of blood before her.
Lee Yu-mi swallowed hard, her face ashen.
Kwon Si-heon was a man who always followed through on his words.
His past actions left no room for doubt about that.
Making her disappear without a trace would be as easy for him as chewing gum.
Perhaps this was her last chance at survival.
With that realization, pride became meaningless – her primary thought was saving herself, her family, and her second cousin Jin Wu-hyeon’s family.
‘PK Group is nothing compared to Hwanhee Group. Park Ju-yeon is just like me – powerless before them.’
Her survival instinct flashed a red alert.
“Hey, Lee Yu-mi! Are you crazy? What are you doing?”
Park Ju-yeon looked down at Yu-mi licking the floor with disbelief.
“Yu-mi, get up! You’re really—!”
“Let go! This is all because of you. If you hadn’t acted like a queen bee and shown off, I wouldn’t be in this situation!”
Watching the two women’s altercation, Gye Youngcheol and Woo Ji-hyang simultaneously fell to their knees and bowed.
“Mom! What are you doing? Get up! Dad! Please!”
“So-yeon, you get down too! We need to survive first!”
“Now that everything’s been revealed, this is our only way out. You’re young, so you’ll do it best – hurry!”
Gye So-yeon bit her lip watching her parents, her fists clenched as she trembled. Finally, as if resigned, she knelt down.
However, she found herself unable to lick the floor.
Why do I have to suffer like this?
It’s not my fault she’s illegitimate. What am I supposed to do about how she was born?
