Chapter 22
Of course, he’d never gotten to use these skills since Si-heon detested even the sight of concealer.
Anyway, while he’d expected Si-heon wouldn’t let go of a woman who could help him sleep…
He never expected him to suddenly talk about marriage.
“Um, perhaps you’ve fallen for her?”
“…What?”
“Ah, no. It’s just that the time taken to decide on something as important as marriage seems very short…”
Si-heon looked at Man-su with disbelief.
“So like you, romance lover Man-su. I heard you were crying while reading some web novel the day before yesterday.”
“N-no, that’s not true!”
“What do you mean it’s not true? I heard you were grinding your teeth saying we should kill that bastard husband who’s cold to his young wife.”
Man-su’s face turned bright red.
‘Jun-min Kim, you bastard…! I’ll kill you tomorrow, for real!’
While vowing to kill his subordinate, he still had to say what needed to be said.
“Um, then do you not like her at all?”
“Do we need to continue this conversation?”
“I-I’m sorry.”
Si-heon frowned as if cringing and sighed before speaking.
“She’s just a remedy. One with quite appealing packaging.”
Man-su nodded with a disappointed expression.
‘I hoped otherwise, but it’s as expected.’
Well, Si-heon wasn’t one to trust people easily.
Even in his own case, though he’d been by Si-heon’s side for nearly 20 years, he only gained his true trust after 5 years from their first meeting.
Moreover, after what he went through, it must be hard for him to trust women easily.
‘Still… I wished he could marry someone he actually loved.’
Si-heon was the person who had pulled him out of the mud.
Man-su sincerely wished for his happiness.
Though it might be closer to fantasy or delusion to wish this for someone born as the Hwanhee Group’s successor, Man-su had faith in one thing.
That was Chairman Soon-yeol Kwon’s love for his grandson.
“At least it’s fortunate that the Chairman probably won’t oppose it.”
Chairman Kwon, who was sensitive about his eldest grandson’s insomnia, was ready to do anything if it could cure the condition.
He wouldn’t reject a woman who could help Si-heon fall into deep sleep.
Even if Ga-eun had been from an insignificant family, they would have gilded that family’s background to make it acceptable.
Moreover, she was the daughter of Yuhan Trading Company.
From what they found out, though currently struggling financially, it was once a quite prominent company.
For someone of that standing, Chairman Kwon Soon-yeol could easily transform her into “a daughter from a respectable company” – easier than eating cold porridge.
“The problem isn’t on our side.”
“Pardon? What do you mean?”
“The problem is with our Ga-eun.”
Man-su blinked slowly.
Our Ga-eun?
Recently, during the regular physical training of Secretarial Team 1, which handled external affairs, there was an incident.
Si-heon had taken a hit to the head while sparring with a current boxing champion because he was distracted thinking about the woman who had put him to sleep.
Something must have gone wrong then.
Otherwise, how could such a bizarre term of address come from Si-heon’s mouth?
Using the word “our” for a person, and a woman at that.
In Man-su’s mind, a list unfurled of women who had cursed and resented Si-heon.
The women who had so much as touched Si-heon’s fingertips had been especially vicious in their curses.
Because he had reacted so violently, as if touching something both scorching hot and filthy.
However, Si-heon’s way of addressing the woman wasn’t as surprising as what he said next.
“Our Ga-eun says I’m like a dog.”
