Chapter 200
“This is amazing, Mom! The birds are coming to me, too!”
“That’s because you inherited more of the divine blood than Shasei did. The animals feel a sense of closeness to you.”
Shasei was death; Seimin was life.
Shasei was war; Seimin was healing.
The twins were so utterly different.
Whenever Shasei entered the forest, the animals would sense her fierce aura and flee in terror.
The predatory energy she exuded made her a natural enemy to small creatures.
On the other hand, despite being a beast himself, Seimin found animals hesitantly approaching him, rubbing their faces against him.
As if they instinctively knew he wouldn’t harm them.
“That boy’s future partner will need to be an intelligent one.”
Watching Seimin now utterly trapped by a swarm of baby rabbits, Yasamin murmured under his breath.
Siren laughed and shook her head.
“I think it’d be nice if they were exactly like him. Why not?”
“No… if they were both like that, then they’d be far too….”
“Believe in it. The power of love. If danger arises, we can protect him. It’s not like we can die, anyway.”
“Haah, well, that’s true.”
At eighteen, one is an adult. But with a temperament like that, what will become of him?
Yasamin had such concerns, but Siren thought differently.
That kind of nature was rare.
It shone brilliantly, and therefore, must not be lost.
A heart capable of loving love itself—how noble that was.
“Seimin looks like he’ll fall asleep at this rate. Let’s go inside and leave him be.”
“Alright.”
Seimin lay sprawled in front of the entrance, playing with rabbits, deer, and even a young wild boar.
Since he had often fallen asleep outside as a child, the couple put aside their worries and stepped indoors.
“It’s been a while, here.”
“Yes. Brings back memories.”
“It’s already been over eighteen years. But it feels like just yesterday that I spent time with you here.”
Siren gazed around with a dreamy look in her eyes.
Not a single piece of furniture had been changed, so it naturally remained just as it had been back then.
Overcome by nostalgia, she slowly ran her hand over the table before looping her arms around Yasamin’s neck. Sensing her emotions, he lowered his head and stole a kiss, and joy welled up inside her.
“I love you, Yasamin.”
“I love you too. Forever.”
Whispering words that never grew old no matter how many times they were spoken, the two pressed their foreheads together and smiled faintly.
The once-barren land had become rich and fertile. Just as their hearts had also grown into a forest.
There was no longer any need to cling to a single tree and suffer.
For the entire forest was theirs, and beneath its lush canopy, they would be happy forever.
‘So, if we could just go on a trip as a couple… everything would truly be perfect.’
Yasamin murmured to himself and pulled Siren into a tight embrace.
He had no intention of waiting until their slow and gentle son fully adapted to the throne.
No, he should have just pushed him harder, taught him everything he needed to know, and then escaped with Siren.
By his estimation, one year.
That was the limit of his patience.
A few years later, early in the morning.
A door creaked open in a house deep within a forest.
This place was far, far from both Idoros and the South.
A winter forest blanketed in thick snow.
A man with platinum hair and sharply upturned eyes stood there, seemingly unfazed by the cold, wearing nothing but a simple shirt.
His striking looks had stolen the hearts of the village women, but he paid no attention to such matters.
Right now, his only concern was clearing the snow from in front of the house before his wife woke up.
Inside, nestled in a warm bed, lay a woman so beautiful she could steal the gaze of any man.
To keep her feet from freezing, the man used Raksha to clear a path outside.
Though twenty centimeters of snow had piled up, a mere gesture was enough to melt it away.
Unaware of his ability, the villagers always found it fascinating how only the path to this forest house remained pristine, showering the man with praise.
They assumed he was diligently shoveling the snow by hand.
Which, of course, was completely false.
Clatter, clatter.
Before long, he prepared an omelet. Brewed strong coffee. Washed the vegetables and drizzled them with dressing.
As he set a simple breakfast table, faint rustling sounds came from the bedroom upstairs.
Perking up his ears, he quickly wiped his hands on his apron and ascended the stairs.
“You’re awake? Slept well? No bad dreams?”
“Mmm…”
“Shall we have coffee and breakfast, Sei?”
“Sounds good…”
Lately, his wife had been sleeping more and more.
Perhaps because they had come to a place free of duties and responsibilities, she had finally found peace, which made Yasamin happy.
He had never seen Siren this at ease before.
“I love you.”
Pressing a soft kiss to her forehead, he gently carried his drowsy wife downstairs.
After seating her tenderly in a chair, he wiped the sleep from her eyes and placed a warm cup of coffee in her hands.
So, so blissful—a piece of the married life he had always dreamed of.
The couple shared stories of their dreams, chatted about the morning weather.
They laughed at times, felt languid at others, and even as they walked hand in hand down a small forest path, a quiet joy surrounded them.
A happiness so dreamlike.
Within this joy, they leaned against each other’s shoulders.
And with that alone, the day felt complete.
