Chapter 104
First, I thought I should take mine off. Even though I liked the doll and it was a shame, not getting caught by others was the priority.
Just as I was about to separate the keyring from my backpack zipper…
“Don’t.”
A firm voice came from the seat next to me.
“Just leave it.”
At some point, Ryu Eun-seok had been tracking my every move with his eyes.
“I’m holding back a lot right now.”
His last words struck my eardrum. The warning in his low voice made me feel self-conscious, and I had no choice but to take my hand off the keyring.
“Oppa, hello!”
“Eun-seok, how have you been? Why haven’t you been in touch?”
Just then, a group of students flooded into the classroom and greeted Ryu Eun-seok. I turned my bag back to its original position and deliberately avoided looking at him. But I couldn’t help my ears from perking up.
“That’s right. Oppa, you don’t answer calls either. What did you do during vacation?”
“I was busy helping with housework.”
“I told you to come up to Seoul for a drink, but you kept brushing me off.”
“Hyung, you should drink less.”
He had been grilling me about whether any guys contacted me, but his own phone was blowing up. But since I had refused even when he offered to show me his call history, I couldn’t say anything.
“Hey, Ryu Eun-seok!”
A woman who had come running from the door slapped Ryu Eun-seok hard on the shoulder. She was one of his classmates, but I couldn’t quite recall her name.
“How long has it been? Have you been well? Kid, you’ve gotten even better looking?”
“Did you come back from leave?”
“Yeah. Freedom is over now. Ah, coming back to school after so long is killing me.”
Despite my resolve not to look, I glanced at the woman’s hand on Ryu Eun-seok’s shoulder. Did she really have to touch him while talking?
“Hey, look at this. I got completely tanned, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Only the part where I wore my watch is white. Isn’t that proof I had a blast?”
Doesn’t Ryu Eun-seok find it annoying when people touch him like that? Why is he letting that happen? He was the one who said he only touches me and stuff. Now he’s sitting there receiving all kinds of hands.
“Hey, have I gained weight since the last time you saw me? I thought traveling around the world would help me diet, but I just ate so much. Do you still work out? Do you still go to that gym?”
Listening to the woman talk, I remembered who she was. It was Shim Chan-mi, who had taken a leave of absence around the time I left for my language study trip to Canada, saying she was going to travel around the world. She was a classmate who always stood out for her energetic demeanor.
“No, I don’t go. The professor is coming. Go sit down in your seat.”
“What’s with you? Why are you suddenly acting like some disgustingly good student?”
Ryu Eun-seok didn’t answer and removed Shim Chan-mi’s hand from his shoulder. Without looking embarrassed at all, the woman pulled back the empty chair to Ryu Eun-seok’s left.
“Maybe I’ll study a bit for the first time in a while.”
Before Ryu Eun-seok could look at me, I quickly fixed my gaze on my tablet. The people actually dating were sitting one seat apart, but here was a classmate sitting right next to him. Still, I wanted to act composed, as if I didn’t mind even this much.
Yang Soo-bin, Kwon Ga-ram, and now Shim Chan-mi. Truly, a level of three thousand court ladies surrounding Ryu Eun-seok, but if I was going to date him, it was something I had to endure. It wasn’t as if I didn’t know—hadn’t I been watching from the beginning? Besides, I was the one who first suggested we meet in secret. So I had no right to feel wronged or annoyed.
I avoided looking properly at the simmering feeling inside me, wanting to look away from how petty I was for being bothered just because he sat next to a female classmate.
Ryu Eun-seok and Shim Chan-mi chattered about travel. I, with great enthusiasm, was skimming through the lecture materials, claiming I was going to preview them on the first day of the semester, but all my concentration had flown to the left.
