Chapter 109
“No one ever comes here. You know that better than anyone.”
I knew that.
But being scared was still being scared.
Even if the odds were only 0.1 percent, today could still be the day that tiny possibility became reality.
I packed up my bag and stood.
If I stayed here any longer, I felt like I’d get swept along by Ryu Eun-seok and end up doing something.
That would be absurd in a place as sacred as the study room.
But Ryu Eun-seok’s large hand wrapped around my wrist.
His grip wasn’t forceful, but the warmth of his hand left me unable to move.
“Want to go to the car?”
The choice was mine.
I could pull free from his grasp and retreat to the safety of my room.
Or I could tell him to go work out or something and send him away.
Ryu Eun-seok sat quietly in his chair, looking up at me.
His features were striking from every angle, but because of what had just happened, my gaze kept drifting to his lips.
“Let’s go.”
His hand tightened around mine ever so slightly, urging me on.
After hesitating, I answered by awkwardly taking a step forward.
The truth was, I’d wanted this from the beginning.
Yet here I was, coyly throwing the decision back to him.
I really was something.
Springing to his feet as if he had springs under him, Ryu Eun-seok released my hand and took the lead.
Keeping a few paces between us, we walked toward the parking lot beside the dormitory building.
The fact that we were making this trip solely to kiss each other was so blatant that my cheeks were already burning.
A short electronic beep sounded as the sedan unlocked.
Instead of opening the front passenger door, Ryu Eun-seok opened the rear door.
We’d always kissed in the front seat before.
The thought of climbing into the back, into a space uninterrupted by the center console or the gearshift, made me swallow nervously.
After I settled into the inner seat, Ryu Eun-seok climbed in after me.
The sound of the door closing sent a chill down the back of my neck.
I sat bolt upright like a student waiting to be scolded by a teacher, staring only at the driver’s seat headrest.
“Why are there so many damn pests?”
Grumbling under his breath, Ryu Eun-seok reached out and wrapped an arm around my waist.
As always when he held me like this, the bridge of his nose nestled beneath my jaw.
“I can’t spend all day following you around swatting flies.”
“Are you talking about me right now?”
I asked in disbelief, but the man holding me merely stayed quiet, as if acknowledging that I was right.
“That’s not something someone with seventy thousand followers should be saying.”
“How is that the same? Those people are strangers—I don’t even know their faces or names. Joo Seung-jae keeps getting in my face.”
What about Shim Chan-mi? And Yang Soo-bin?
I barely swallowed the names that constantly complicated my thoughts.
If I acted the same way here, it’d only turn into another fight.
“I’m already ignoring that senior as much as I can, so you should stop worrying about him too. If you react to everything he does, it’ll only make you look more bothered.”
Apparently dissatisfied with my solution, Ryu Eun-seok let out a long sigh.
The warmth of his breath tickled my skin, making my neck instinctively shrink back.
Even so, I didn’t want to push him away.
I simply stayed still in his embrace, barely breathing.
At that moment, the bridge of his nose shifted slightly.
His moisture-softened lips came to rest in the hollow between my neck and shoulder.
My back immediately tensed.
“Starting next class, I’m just going to sit next to you.”
I could clearly feel the movement of Ryu Eun-seok’s lips as he spoke.
It was obviously deliberate.
“I’m not giving your seat up to any other guys.”
“Fine, I get it, so can we stop talking about—”
But I never finished the sentence.
Ryu Eun-seok brushed his tongue lightly along the side of my neck.
The involuntary sound that escaped me interrupted my words.
“Mm.”
The tip of his tongue traced a damp path up behind my ear.
A faint wet sound rose beneath my jaw.
His parted lips closed gently around my earlobe.
My eyes shut of their own accord.
When I stayed frozen instead of pulling away, Ryu Eun-seok held me more firmly against him. The tip of his nose slipped through my hair as his lips lingered near my ear.
Everything else faded into the background.
The only thing I could focus on was the closeness between us.
“Ah… this feels strange…”
I wasn’t even aware of how my own voice sounded.
I twisted my head, trying to get away, but couldn’t.
Pinned between the car door and Ryu Eun-seok’s solid frame, I was unable to move.
