Even in an open space, the scent of their union lingered for a long time. After wiping off the fluids and despite the sweet breeze blowing, the traces of their passion didn’t easily dissipate.

Held in Izar’s arms, Freesia thought dreamily.

‘I didn’t know Lord Izar was this… lustful.’

He was only three years younger than the ‘husband’ from her previous life, yet the difference felt immense. But even though her thighs ached, she cried out in pleasure, so she was no different.

‘…I did drink the tea.’

She had been properly drinking the tea brewed with wild carrot seeds. But like all contraceptives, there was always a chance it could fail.

‘If he keeps holding me like this every day…’

Freesia sighed, touching her lower abdomen. In a world where no wife dared to tell her husband not to release inside her, she might be the first.

“Your Grace.”

After a long pause, she finally mustered the courage to bring up the topic.

“I have something to ask you.”

“Hmm?”

Freesia burrowed further into his embrace, watching his reaction.

“Why did you save me from the lake back then?”

“…Should I have left you?”

“Oh, that’s not what I meant. I was curious why you were passing by there.”

“…”

“That place isn’t that close to the castle either.”

Izar avoided her gaze in silence.

He remembered that day clearly. The vague excitement was overshadowed by unpleasant memories of his half-brother. He couldn’t quite recall what he wanted to do with the shepherdess he had brought before him…

But he spoke curtly out of embarrassment.

“I don’t remember. Who remembers such details from five years ago?”

“…”

“And if someone’s drowning, you rescue them, no matter who they are.”

“…”

Freesia lowered her head and secretly pouted.

So, he saved her from the lake just to avoid a bloated corpse? It seemed unfair that she remembered the event so fondly while he had little regard for it.

“I haven’t forgotten the coat you gave me that day.”

“…”

“Though my mother burned it, I managed to keep at least a button.”

“…Really?”

“Yes…”

Freesia gulped and slightly lifted her body.

In the past, her ‘husband’ had shown clear displeasure when he saw her wearing the button necklace, saying it tarnished the family’s dignity.

‘But Lord Izar now…’

She didn’t wear it as a necklace, but she kept it in a small pouch on her wrist.

She took out the precious treasure from the small silk pouch, whispering.

“Here, this…”

“…”

Izar was speechless as he took the small button. Though faint, he recognized it as having come from his coat.

‘She’s kept this all this time.’

…Suddenly, he felt foolish for saying he didn’t remember. Now, it was awkward to claim that he did.

“You should have mentioned it even if it was burned.”

Izar, deliberately sounding disapproving, continued to fumble with the button necklace. His chest stirred inexplicably, and the fingertips touching the button tingled.

Damn it. Why did this woman always manage to elicit embarrassment in him like this?

But Freesia, with a face full of tension, asked.

“Can you see any writing on the back?”

“Writing?”

“Yes.”

Before her mother died, Freesia had shown her the number ‘365’ written on the button. But her mother had only screamed and slapped it away.

Thea, who helped her dress, also hadn’t mentioned anything about it.

‘So, it seems no one else can see it.’

But with Izar’s power to eradicate monsters, it might be different.

“To be honest, I started seeing the time I have left on it.”

Freesia watched intently as Izar examined the back of the button.

He didn’t show any sign of shock or disbelief yet.

Today, she had 215 days left.

So she had to muster the courage to speak quickly.

Above all, she wanted to tell him everything before he changed his mind about letting her say whatever she wanted.

“Your Grace. In truth, I’ve already died once. But God gave me a year, and I came to be by your side.”
