“Haah…”

The ecstasy of what seemed like an eternal first experience quickly subsided from the moment she closed her eyes.

Hexion looked down at the sleeping Shin Joo while steadying his rough breathing. Perhaps because the bed was so wide, she looked fragile while sleeping curled up, breathing softly, appearing ready to crumble from the slightest touch.

After carefully cleaning Shin Joo’s body, Hexion covered her with a thin blanket and tidied himself up.

There wasn’t a single scar where Marvis had struck him, but a drop of blood seeped from the red scratch near his eye made by Shin Joo’s fingernail.

Hexion wiped it with his fingertip and licked it.

He couldn’t taste anything.

‘Is it because Shin Joo is asleep?’

After adjusting his clothes, Hexion approached the window. The temple, now in darkness as the sun had set, was tinged in monochrome.

He turned his head again to look at Shin Joo. As he took in her appearance, the flickering scarlet light gradually became clearer.

‘It seems my senses only function properly when Shin Joo is nearby.’

He sighed softly as he touched his still-throbbing eye. Though it wasn’t a deep wound, a stinging sensation flowed when he touched it. Hexion found this fascinating.

‘I couldn’t feel anything when Shin Joo wasn’t here.’

He remembered how his empty heart had been filled the moment he first encountered Shin Joo after she returned from the demon’s quarters. He recalled searching desperately for Shin Joo in the darkness where not even light was visible, from a very long time ago.

‘When was that memory from?’

Hexion had been serving Shin Joo by her side for a long time. While he had undertaken missions outside the temple, he had never been away for long. So there should have been no reason for him to wander in the darkness searching for her.

Yet he felt as though he had finally found her after searching for a very long time.

Before he could examine where these feelings of joy and longing originated, the holy knights pointed their spears at him. He was imprisoned and falsely accused of conspiring with the demon race to lure away the Divine Master.

No one believed Hexion when he protested his innocence. Still, Shin Joo was his god, so he believed that at least she would trust him.

But Shin Joo fled from the temple.

Seeing the priests in confusion and disarray, his bewilderment soon subsided. Since divine tests typically defy human prediction, there must have been a reason why Shin Joo had fled instead of saving him.

Hexion recalled that demon items had been found in his room. He had never communicated with the demon race, so he thought someone had placed them there to frame him, but that was incorrect.

Who would dare bring demon items into the temple where the Divine Master resided?

No matter how much they envied Hexion, those who served Shin Joo could not betray her. So the one who placed the demon items there was probably Shin Joo herself.

‘Why would Shin Joo do such a thing?’

If she simply disliked Hexion, she could have dismissed him anytime. There was no need to frame him.

For Hexion, being directly rejected by her would have been more devastating than being branded a traitor.

‘There must be a purpose behind sending me these items and her escape.’

Hexion clutched the pass stamped with the demon seal. If this was a clue left by Shin Joo, then she had likely returned to the demon’s quarters.

No, she definitely had.

After all, Shin Joo hadn’t rejected the demon who arrived riding a summoned beast from the beginning.

‘Though I only glimpsed him, so I can’t be certain…’

The demon leader was quite handsome.

Shin Joo, with her vigorous se*ual appetite, typically flirted with attractive men. Hadn’t she quickly lowered her guard and tried to get close to the beautiful admiral?

‘I could prevent other guys from approaching Shin Joo, but I couldn’t do that with the admiral.’

Fortunately, the admiral rejected her request, and the dejected Shin Joo never mentioned him again. But it seemed the demon leader was different.

‘Did she abandon me and choose him?’

Having observed her closely for a long time, Hexion could easily guess what she desired.

‘I must bring her back before that demon captures her heart.’

Hexion persuaded the knights guarding him. With Shin Joo’s disappearance while he was imprisoned, it wasn’t difficult to clear himself of suspicion.

Convinced by the claim that this was all a demon trick, the priests ordered Hexion to go to the demon’s quarters and retrieve the Divine Master.

After preparing his weapons, the admiral appeared before Hexion. Apparently, the priests had sent a letter to the admiral, feeling uneasy about relying solely on the holy knights.

The admiral who had flatly rejected Shin Joo’s advances was now eager to help retrieve her. Hexion frowned.

‘Could the admiral also have ulterior motives toward Shin Joo?’

Hexion was briefly wary of the admiral but couldn’t confront the man with his kind face. In the end, he convinced himself they were only cooperating temporarily to retrieve Shin Joo and accompanied him.

Bringing her back wasn’t difficult. The admiral and his navy were capable, and the soft-hearted Shin Joo couldn’t ignore Hexion’s persistently outstretched hand.

“Shin Joo. You may think me a coward, but…”

Hexion gazed at her deep in sleep and smiled.

“To be your first, I would do anything.”

***

I woke up after dozing off to find it was already daylight. What? Why didn’t anyone wake me when the sun is already high?

“Are you awake, Shin Joo?”

“Eeek, Hexion!”

Startled by Hexion’s sudden voice, I grabbed the blanket and pulled it up to my neck, then lowered it again as I recalled the previous night.

I was wearing clean priest robes, which Hexion must have changed me into. The fact that I slept soundly in these clothes showed how tired I must have been.

“Hexion, what time is it now?”

“It’s 2 PM.”

“What? So I’ve done nothing all morning?”

Prayer and study aside, what about Healing Time?

When I looked at him with a puzzled face, Hexion knelt on one knee before me and continued with a composed expression.

“Everyone understands that you are too exhausted from recent events to perform your duties. Please focus only on recovering your strength for the time being.”

“What? But my body isn’t particularly…”

“If you need anything, you can entrust it to me, your foremost guardian knight.”

It would be hypocritical to claim fatigue after having such intense s*x with Hexion yesterday. But the expression on Hexion’s face as he knelt before me was so sacred that I could only fidget with my fingers, unable to question him.

“Um, then what should I do now?”

“If your desires haven’t been fully satisfied, I can continue to fulfill them.”

“No, no, no! Not that!”

I quickly waved both arms as Hexion looked ready to climb onto the bed. Although I had been internally singing about wanting to devour Hexion whenever I saw him, that didn’t mean I wanted to do it all day long!

Besides, perhaps because I had already spent two days and nights rolling in bed with Marvis just before, I felt like my body wouldn’t survive if we continued here.

Even though the Divine Master’s body was immune to disease, there must be limits to what a human can endure. I didn’t want to test whether there was a bad ending involving death from overexertion.

“Then how about taking a nap after finishing your meal?”

“Uh…”

Not that I disliked the idea, but wouldn’t that be wasting time doing nothing? I needed to quickly receive Hexion’s oath of loyalty and remove the bomb.

“Actually Hexion, I have something to ask you.”

“Please speak, Shin Joo.”

“Do you have any complaints about me?”

I asked while glancing at Hexion’s bomb countdown window.

“None.”

“Then perhaps there’s something inconvenient about performing your duties?”

“None of that either.”

“Or maybe difficulties with family or friends, or any relationship problems…”

“Shin Joo. I don’t understand why you’re thinking this way, but as long as I remain your foremost guardian knight, I harbor no complaints whatsoever.”

If he has no complaints, what kind of event would trigger world destruction in three days?

While I was racking my brain about what to say to remove Hexion’s bomb, I noticed an exclamation mark among the minimized windows.

‘Was there a quest I hadn’t checked?’

Thinking I might have overlooked it due to everything happening, I expanded the window and saw an unfamiliar message with a red time limit.

Will you send Kaint back as he is?

If the admiral gives up on meeting you and returns to the castle, the alliance between the temple and the navy will be dissolved.

Time remaining 9:03:52

“Huh?”

Kaint is here? And waiting for me?

‘But why didn’t Hexion mention it?’

I quickly looked at Hexion. My loyal guardian knight seemed to be simply waiting for me to give an order.

“Hexion. Did Kaint come to the temple?”

The moment I uttered the name “Kaint,” wrinkles formed on his previously composed brow.

[Hexion]’s current affection level: 89

What? Now I can’t even say his name?
