It was the skill honed in her previous life.

The experience accumulated through long years of battle was a valuable strength that could not be gained through the power of Pendragon alone.

—GRAHHH!

The wolf, unable to contain its frustration, let out a roar.

It tried repeatedly to attack Maya.

But as Maya kept moving before it could land a blow, all its efforts were in vain.

Why can’t I even land a single scratch on this tiny human?

The wolf grew increasingly enraged.

Its movements sped up significantly.

At last, the wolf’s front paw struck Maya’s body. With a tearing sound, the hem of her dress was shredded.

Maya’s right wrist until shoulder were also severely injured, torn apart.

“Ah…”

This was a serious wound.

Maya clenched her teeth. The sudden surge of pain made her vision go hazy.

[Hey, if you pass out, we’re in big trouble!]

Even Pendragon’s sword fussed beside her, indicating just how severe the wound was.

For an ordinary person, this injury would have been fatal, but Maya had survived, barely.

“…Maya!”

Tristan, speaking in a panicked voice, caught Maya’s collapsing body and placed her onto the wyvern.

“Uh… Tristan. I’m fine, really.”

Despite her disoriented state, recognizing Tristan’s presence was easy.

Though she managed to hold on to her consciousness, she wasn’t sure how much longer she could last.

‘Ah… Why is the human body so fragile?’

Why did a single hit from a monster’s attack bring her so close to death?

Tristan placed his hands on both sides of Maya’s face. In a low voice, he whispered,

“Don’t lose consciousness.”

His urgency, uncharacteristic for him, was due to seeing Maya in such a vulnerable state.

Placing his hand on her forehead, Tristan unleashed his full power. He shut his eyes tightly and focused.

‘I’ve never pushed the power of the Bayarden family to this limit before…’

But this time, he was desperate.

A dark light enveloped Maya’s body.

Even Tristan wasn’t sure if this would work.

“…Ah.”

Maya’s eyes, which had almost fully closed, began to slowly open.

Her breathing gradually stabilized.

Maya blinked, still dazed.

Bit by bit, the feeling returned to the hand that had been numb just moments ago.

The strength in her body, which had felt split in two, also returned.

[As expected of Bayarden!]

White Dragon’s loud voice rang out.

‘That was definitely a critical wound.’

Maya still couldn’t believe what had just happened.

A life-threatening injury had been healed in an instant.

It was an ability just as remarkable as the power of Pendragon.

“…Is this even possible?”

“If it wasn’t, I was prepared to make it possible.”

Tristan, gritting his teeth, muttered and held Maya tightly in his arms.

Maya could clearly hear Tristan’s heart pounding loudly, through his chest and the fabric that separated them.

“This attack was truly dangerous.”

The sincerity in his trembling voice made Maya feel apologetic.

‘I didn’t mean to make him worry.’

Maya whispered in a voice as small as an ant.

“…I was being careful, I swear. I’m sorry.”

“You did nothing wrong. I should have healed you better.”

But Tristan hadn’t done anything wrong.

“That’s not true.”

Maya quickly corrected him, but Tristan wouldn’t accept it.

“I will be more careful next time.”

Maya came up with a better solution for the both of them.

“Then I’ll fight harder and take down the wolf faster. If the wolf is gone, we won’t have to worry about any of this.”

Tristan let out a smile, a bit inappropriate for the situation, at Maya’s innocent and bright expression.

‘Most people would say they’ll be more cautious.’

Tristan liked this aspect of Maya’s thinking.

“Alright, I’m going to fight again now.”

“Yes.”

It had taken only about a minute for her to heal.

Maya looked at the wolf, which was rampaging through the training ground, tearing it apart in search of her.

“Where’s Serene Baker?”

“I left her near the entrance of the training ground.”

The imperial guard’s training ground was vast, as expected.

It was large enough to comfortably fit three enormous mansions.

One of the reasons Maya had brought the wolf to the training ground was precisely because of its size.

‘It’s far enough from the entrance, so Serene should be safe. I need to fight while guiding the wolf away from that area.’

Maya nodded.
