Chapter 101

The day had broken.
Chrome looked up at the sky with a troubled expression.
As a witch to his very core, Chrome had always been wary of light. On the other hand, he often felt his power surge when the pitch-black night fell. But now, regardless of his preferences, he was genuinely troubled.
“This is bad, isn’t it?”
The fact that the day had broken meant that the spell Chrome had cast to prevent others from entering this place had been dispelled. He wasn’t sure yet whether someone had deliberately undone it or if his spell had simply run out of power.
“I can’t ignore the possibility that it’s the former.”
Chrome summoned a shadow to call for owls. About five owls flew in, each transforming into an envelope that landed in his hand.
As Chrome opened and read the letters one by one, his expression grew increasingly grim.
He had already heard the news that Magnus was using witches to quickly approach this place. Magnus was pretending to seek the witches’ help once more to kill Rubel Shinote, but honestly, Chrome thought it was all nonsense.
Did Duke Andreas Shinote really lend knights to Magnus without knowing anything?
‘He must have known about Magnus’s contact with the witches from the start.’
Chrome thought it was most likely that Duke Andreas was deliberately using the witches to find Rubel.
If Duke Andreas were that foolish, why would the witches of Alphadem have approached Magnus in the first place? They would have gone straight to Duke Andreas, the head of the Shinote family.
The witches must have been blinded by their narrow escape from Rubel Shinote. They hadn’t even realized it.
‘Or perhaps Magnus is so consumed by jealousy that he believes he can defy his father’s orders and kill Rubel, or he’s trying to create such a situation himself.’
Honestly, no matter what, it was a bad situation for Chrome.
He didn’t care if Rubel died, but the problem was that Chrome wasn’t done using him yet.
Haven’t they had s*x yet?
Chrome muttered as he hurried toward the house where Eir was staying.
Whether it was today or tomorrow, it seemed certain that they were closing in. Time was running out, and Chrome was baffled as to why they still hadn’t slept together.
Could it be that his inability to get e***t was truly permanent?
Was he not just enduring it with sheer willpower?
But could he really endure it just by trying?
Chrome regretted revealing his true form. Last time, when he appeared as a grandmother, Eir’s divine energy had caused his disguise to falter several times. The feeling of his face twisting and peeling off had been dizzying.
So this time, he decided it would be better to reveal his true form as a man and win her favor. But even after taking that risk, he hadn’t gained much.
He couldn’t even suggest seduction for fear of being accused of s****l harassment, so all he could do was hand her contraceptives. And now, because of that, she still hadn’t managed to seduce that man.
He let out a deep sigh. When he arrived at the house, it was empty.
When he asked the people around where they had gone, they said, “Hmm, they went toward the mountains? I guess they went out to enjoy the nice weather.”
“This is ridiculous. Should I just abandon her and leave?”
Chrome seriously considered it.
But it was such a waste to give up after coming this far. Soon, it seemed like the two of them would finally sleep together, and then Chrome could safely steal Hecate’s magic.
After hesitating for a moment, Chrome began to focus on rearranging his plans. He pressed his thumb against each of his other fingers, calculating the possibilities.
It was clear that the witches of Alphadem would soon discover Chrome’s betrayal. In that case, he needed to secure Hecate’s magic as a definitive weapon to suppress any opposition.
“Alright. I’ve bet on her. Let’s see it through to the end.”
Chrome’s expression almost cracked as he thought of Eir’s foolish face, but he forced himself to steady his resolve.
Now that he thought about it, Rubel Shinote’s taste seemed to be exactly that kind of foolish, loyal person who would never betray him.
Yes. Let’s go all the way.
Chrome cast a spell on himself. Soon, one of the many tattoos on his body—a black rabbit—transformed, and he dashed into the mountains, blending into the shadows.
Finding Eir wouldn’t be too difficult, he thought, as he could follow the scent of the curse vibrating in her body.
