Chapter 105
After receiving treatment from the physician, Nox felt slightly uncomfortable because of the bandages crossing his shoulder and chest. Even at the faint crease of his brow, Sia immediately clung to him and said,
“You need to keep it wrapped like this. The treatment you asked for at first was honestly ridiculous!”
“…Just applying ointment would have been enough.”
“How is this a wound you can treat with just ointment! It should’ve been stitched!”
At Sia’s outburst, Nox, Marie, the physician, and even Cedric all flinched. The one most surprised of all was Nox. Looking rather flustered, he asked,
“But stitching would hurt more, Sia.”
“…I mean, that’s true, but.”
Unable to explain properly, Sia soaked a towel with clean water and carefully wiped around the bandage and the exposed skin.
“Sia, I’ll do it.”
Nox tried to stop her, not wanting her to attend to him like this in front of the servants, but Sia only shook her head. Marie, who had been watching from the side, stepped forward and said,
“Then I’ll do it.”
“…No.”
Sia didn’t want to leave it to Marie either. It was not that she distrusted Marie or thought anything strange of Nox. She simply didn’t like seeing another woman being close to him.
At the thought that suddenly occurred to her, Sia’s face slowly turned red. Relieved that no one knew what she was thinking, she turned to Cedric.
“Does Lord Nox have a comfortable shirt?”
“What kind should I bring?”
Cedric understood immediately.
“One that breathes well would be good. A size larger would be nice too. Ah, and now that I think about it, he should change his pants as well.”
“Yes, understood.”
After Cedric left the room, the physician handed over a jar of ointment and said,
“Just in case, I will leave this ointment for cuts.”
“Alright.”
“And this is oral medicine. Please give it to him after meals.”
Handing the medicine naturally to Sia, the physician bowed politely and left the room. Watching the entire scene, Nox found it strangely difficult to keep his hands still.
Something felt restless, but he could not tell exactly where. Whether it was his fingertips, or his heart…
“…Sia, I want some water.”
“You do?”
“Madam, here it is.”
The moment Nox asked, Sia responded, and Marie brought the water. Sia quickly held the glass to Nox’s lips.
“Can you drink?”
Anyone seeing this would think he was a severely ill patient who could not even get up. Even so, Nox didn’t dislike it. No, rather, it made his heart tremble with happiness. Any lingering guilt disappeared, and he found himself wishing he could receive this kind of care for the rest of his life.
Without taking his eyes off her, he emptied the glass, then hesitated before speaking softly, as if checking whether he was allowed to be this spoiled.
“I’m hungry…”
“Marie.”
“Yes, I will bring something easy to digest.”
He wanted to add that it was unnecessary, but before he could speak, Sia said first,
“Still, he needs protein to recover quickly, so bring steak as well. Something he’ll like.”
“Yes, Madam.”
“Oh, and bring a variety of fruits too. Vitamins are important.”
“…Understood.”
Marie was curious about some of the unfamiliar words Sia used, but chose to let it pass.
Nox was curious as well, but more than that, he wanted her full attention. As he kept staring at her silently, Sia spoke first.
“You feel uncomfortable, don’t you?”
“…A little?”
“As if it’s only a little.”
“Am I that dirty?”
At her response, Nox hurriedly ran a hand through his hair. He thought he should have washed before coming to see her. Seeing him like that, Sia said,
“I didn’t mean dirty. I meant you must feel uncomfortable. You can’t wash properly because of the bandage…”
Looking at him thoughtfully, she continued,
“Then, let’s do a quick wash before Cedric brings the clothes.”
“…How?”
“Come here.”
Sia took Nox by the wrist and led him into the bathroom. Once inside, she said to him, her cheeks reddening,
“Could you take off your pants and step into the tub?”
At her request, Nox didn’t object and immediately removed his pants and undergarments. Since he was often naked in front of her, he didn’t feel particularly embarrassed. Instead, it was Sia who looked more flustered.
“Ahem.”
“The tub isn’t filled with water. Should I get in now?”
“…I’ll wipe your body later while you’re standing.”
She planned to wash his hair first. Placing a thick towel over the edge of the tub, she gently rested the back of his neck against it.
