Chapter 22
Nox silently set down his teacup, now empty of black tea, and quietly fixed his gaze on Sia.
He had many things he wanted to ask, but honestly, his own thoughts were still a mess.
“Starting tomorrow, Cedric will explain things directly. For now, go to your assigned room and rest.”
“…Ah, yes. Thank you.”
Despite being brought here in such a dramatic fashion, nothing special had happened, and Sia secretly felt relieved.
After leaving the dining room, she glanced at Nox, who was heading elsewhere, then turned her gaze to Cedric.
Cedric looked like he also had a lot to say—much like Nox earlier—but nevertheless, spoke politely.
“Then, I will show you to your room.”
“Ah, yes…”
She’d been told she would be learning from this person starting tomorrow, but Sia quietly followed, wondering if it was really right for her to be treated so well.
The room she was shown to was better than she expected.
For one, it was on the second floor and had a balcony.
Not only was there a bedroom, but also a small sitting room and another small room.
Cedric approached as she looked around, feeling as if she had entered a nice hotel.
“Starting tomorrow, I will teach you your duties, but for now, you are here as Master’s guest. If you need anything, you may pull that bell cord over there to summon the staff at any time.”
“…Are you sure I’m really here as a guest?”
Sia couldn’t quite believe his words.
She’d essentially been dragged here, yet he was calling her a guest.
Of course, they hadn’t harmed her or treated her roughly, but the oppressive presence of Nox still lingered over her like a mountain.
“Of course. Did the Master not personally bring you here himself?”
“But he told me to be a butler.”
“That part… I am not privy to the details, but for anything else, you should be treated as a guest, Miss.”
Cedric himself hadn’t received any further instructions from Nox, so he couldn’t give a definite answer, but there was one thing he knew for certain.
The woman before him was the first guest his master had ever brought here.
And, sharing the same hair color, how much more so.
Cedric was itching to offer her even more, and though the mysterious scent she exuded was fainter now, he still wanted to ask about it.
However, not wanting to be rude to a guest, he gave a polite bow.
“Then, I hope you have a restful night.”
After Cedric left, Sia set her luggage down in what appeared to be the dressing room and looked around the room.
Upon seeing the enormous bed in the bedroom, she ran and leapt onto it.
“Haa…”
She felt a little guilty towards Karin, but she had to admit that Karin’s bed was truly beyond words… terrible. Especially compared to her own bed back in Korea.
But this bed was even softer and cozier than the one she had in Korea.
After all she’d been through, Sia fell asleep just like that.

The next morning, Sia woke up feeling like she was going to die from the chaos of it all.
She’d been in such a deep sleep she didn’t even realize it was morning, but was suddenly awakened by the staff barging in, washed—an experience she never wanted to speak of again, as it was extremely unpleasant—and was practically fed her breakfast.
Now dressed in unfamiliar clothes, she somehow found herself being led by Cedric to a place she didn’t know.
“To start, this is the room used by the butlers. Every morning we gather here to discuss the day’s schedule, and then each person takes up their duties. From now on, you will serve as Master’s personal butler.”
“…Pardon?”
Sia, who had been slightly excited at the thought of being a cat butler, could only repeat, “Pardon?” when told she would be that man’s personal butler.
“For this week, let’s begin by having you learn Master’s schedule.”
“It’s not a cat butler job?”
“…Pardon?”
“No, it’s just… I could understand being a cat butler, but I’ve never been a butler for a human, nor do I know how.”
Momentarily flustered by Sia’s off-the-wall comment, Cedric burst out laughing.
“So you really are a most amusing person. Ah, I see—you use ‘cat butler’ as a metaphor for a human from the ancient myths and legends, don’t you?”
Cedric looked as if he was pondering something, then soon brightened and continued,
“Though our Master is called a symbol of misfortune, I think differently. I have never seen a cat werebeast as capable as our Master. He is as great as the humans in myth, and at the same time, as lovable as an primordial cat. He was adorable even as a child.”
Adorable, how?
How could someone nearly one hundred ninety centimeters tall, with muscles clearly visible even through his clothes, be considered adorable?
Sia couldn’t understand Cedric’s words, but she couldn’t ignore them either.
A human from legend?
That meant… there really are no humans in this world then?
