Chapter 65
“…Are humans different?”
It struck him as almost comical, remembering the serious conversation he’d had with Cedric before.
If he wanted to know about humans, all he had to do was ask Sia. Until now, he had pretended not to know her true identity, so he couldn’t ask her directly, but things were different now.
“Yes, they’re different.”
Sia recalled the questions she’d had during their intimacy and continued.
“Humans have a separate ovulation period. So I’ve heard that’s when they prepare to conceive…”
Mid-sentence, she suddenly remembered something important and whipped around. Nox, who had been gazing at the back of her round head, widened his eyes slightly at her abrupt movement.
“Uh, so…”
All the things she’d put off asking because she was too exhausted after their lovemaking came rushing back at once, leaving her confused but unable to hold back her question. Gripping Nox’s shoulder, she asked with a serious expression,
“Lord Nox… does this mean you… want to have a child with me?”
“…Are you saying you don’t want to bear my offspring?”
“What?”
“You took my first time. Naturally, that makes you my mate. Which means, of course, that you should be the one to bear my children. I have no intention of taking another female to sire an heir.”
The more he spoke, the dizzier Sia felt, her head spinning. Unsure how to respond, she swallowed and finally said,
“Isn’t it natural that if you have a wife, of course you shouldn’t take other women?”
“Is that so?”
Sia already knew this was a class-based society, but hearing him say ‘another female’ still shocked her. Ah, so polygamy was acceptable here.
She had to ask.
“So in this place, men can have multiple wives?”
“…In your world, that’s impossible?”
“Hmm, I think there are countries where it’s legal… but in the place I live, it’s against the law.”
“Then it’s only ever one husband and one wife?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
Listening with open curiosity, Nox’s eyes softened as he whispered,
“I prefer that too. I want it to be just you and me, Sia.”
“……”
It was the first time Sia had seen Nox smile so innocently, like a child. She was left speechless, her cheeks flushing pink. Her heart pounded wildly. The smile was so devastatingly charming that she felt almost dizzy. All she could do was bite her lip.
Nox gently smoothed out her messy hair and rested his face on his arm as he continued,
“I want to know more about your home. You don’t need to hide that you’re human from me anymore. Won’t you tell me?”
“…That’s true.”
She had been hiding it just in case, but if Nox was fine with it, wasn’t it fine? A weight lifted off her chest, and she felt a sense of relief.
Having experienced keeping her identity a secret, she knew how hard lying was. It was easy with strangers, but the closer she grew to Nox and Cedric, the more guilty she’d felt about not being able to tell them.
Nox, watching her expression brighten, leaned in and placed a soft kiss on her forehead.
“Lord Nox…”
Startled, Sia covered her forehead with her hand, but he didn’t mind and instead kissed the back of her hand. Smooch, smooch, smooch. He scattered quick kisses all over before smiling broadly and sitting up.
“Aren’t you hungry?”
“…Very.”
“You slept all afternoon, so of course you are. Here, take my hand.”
Entranced by his handsome face, she blankly reached out and took his hand. Nox pulled her gently and effortlessly scooped her into his arms.
“Ah!”
“I’ll help you wash up.”
“That’s not necessary!”
“There’s no need to be shy at this point. You washed me too, didn’t you?”
“That was—!”
She wanted to argue that it was when he was in cat form, but the words wouldn’t come out because Nox had kissed her lips.
It was just a slow kiss, moving side to side, but it made her heart flutter. Without realizing it, Sia curled up her hands and feet.
He kissed the tip of her nose and each cheek lightly before whispering in her ear,
“You’re beautiful even without washing…”
He had deliberately left his scent on her and didn’t want her to wash it off. To him, having his mate carry his scent was unbearably precious.
Feeling the dampness between her legs, Sia squirmed. Earlier, the conversation had shifted, so she hadn’t been able to ask, but she was curious about why he’d done that.
“But earlier, Lord Nox… you, um, down there…”
She wanted to ask, but saying the words out loud was far too embarrassing. Seeing her hesitation, Nox smiled and finished her sentence for her.
“You mean when I rubbed my seed on your p***y?”
“Ugh! P-Please, why would you say it like that?!”
