Chapter 85
Nox carefully studied a book that detailed the physical structure of the wolf tribe. Once he had gathered the information he needed, he called for Cedric.
“You summoned me, Master.”
“Send a request to the Magic Tower immediately.”
“What item should I order?”
Cedric’s question left Nox silent for a moment. He had intended to have something made. Something better than whatever the wolf-tribe females used.
But… he had a hunch Sia might dislike that.
When he had asked Sia about humans before, she had been shy but mostly willing to answer. But this time she’d looked appalled and snapped at him. That shock was enough to pull him back from acting rashly, and he hesitated, brooding.
Then, as his eyes caught a single sentence in the book, he lifted his head and gave his command again.
“…Order a magic tool, light in weight and warm enough to place over the lower abdomen.”
“Does such a magic tool exist?”
“I don’t care what it costs, just tell them to have it finished and delivered by tomorrow.”
“……”
At any ordinary shop, the name of the Blois Duchy would speed things along, but the Magic Tower was different. Full of eccentrics, they sometimes refused to take commissions at all.
Cedric hesitated briefly, then spoke after organizing his thoughts. If his lord was this desperate, it had to be because of Sia.
“If it’s something urgently needed, I’ll prepare a temporary substitute right away. But even if we press the Magic Tower, I can’t guarantee they’ll accept the request.”
“…Damn it.”
“Master…”
Cedric was startled. His lord almost never cursed. Nox rubbed his face harshly and muttered in a low, gloomy voice.
“Sia’s angry… she won’t even look at me.”
After spending the morning reading about menstruation, Nox had rushed to see Sia, only to be turned away at the door.
Not just turned away, but met with resentment.
“She mentioned hormone secretion spikes, but this book didn’t say anything about hormones at all… If I don’t show up with the right item, she might kick me out again.”
He had to find something that could help her but wouldn’t embarrass her. It was the only way to ask for forgiveness. And he couldn’t just hand her any ordinary thing. She was his mate. Of course she deserved the best.
“…Master.”
Cedric recalled the time his own wife had been furious with him, forcing him to sleep alone on the cold sofa in the sitting room. It had been so lonely and cold, beyond words.
Determined not to let his master suffer the same, Cedric said with a grave look,
“I’ll go to the Magic Tower myself.”
“…Thank you, Cedric.”
“We’ll need something that would spark the mages’ curiosity.”
“I’ll provide whatever support you need.”
Cedric remembered a curious herb he’d heard of from his nephew when rumors about Sia first came up. Other mages might not react, but if there were any feline mages, they surely would.
“I’ll need Miss Marie’s help. I’ll have her get it.”
“…No way.”
“So you know what I’m talking about, Master.”
It was the strange leaf he’d always been given when visiting Sia.
“That would do…”
“Yes. Leave it to me.”
The butler who had been by his side since birth had never looked so reliable. Nox nodded, his expression tinged with hope.
Cedric moved quickly. The catnip he obtained through Marie was truly peculiar, and even Marie’s hands trembled as she handed it over. Cedric made a mental note to ask about it later, then headed straight for the Magic Tower.
From a distance, Nox watched Cedric depart and quietly summoned the aide who handled his imports. If he had to smuggle goods, so be it. He wanted to bring Sia what she needed without making her feel embarrassed.
He just wanted to be a dependable male for his mate.

“Ah… it’s especially bad this time.”
Her back hurt like it might snap, and the bleeding felt endless, leaving her hollow. No matter how often she changed the cloth, she couldn’t move far. For the first time, she longed for the conveniences of modern civilization.
Clack.
The bedroom door opened without permission. Sia didn’t need to turn her head to know who had come in. Strictly speaking, Nox hadn’t done anything wrong.
But strangely, she felt irritated. Even seeing him approach with a worried face made her annoyed. She knew she was overreacting, but the way he accepted everything without complaint only made her want to whine more.
