Adeline swallowed hard. His eyes were filled with a chilling darkness. He tightened his grip, pushing her back until she fell. 12 loomed over her, his gaze fixed on her exposed skin. His voice was low.
“I want to devour you.”
A shiver ran down her spine. Adeline’s lips parted.
“You can.”
She added, ‘If it’s you.’ 12 looked at her, a strange expression in his eyes.
“Because I am ‘Damian’?”
“…Yes.”
“I am not who you seek.”
12 slowly lowered his head. Adeline closed her eyes.
‘Yes, he is Damian, but he is not Damian.’
What constituted existence? Having the same genes, the same physical composition, didn’t make two beings the same.
‘Are we made of memories, then?’
‘Such a fragile foundation for existence.’

I cried like I had a personal stake in this. I’m a true OG fan, subscribed to the Hero channel since the very beginning. I watched Seoyun, Jungwoo, Dohee, Ingyu, Griffith, Al, all of them, grind from the bottom…
Honestly, sorry to bring this up again, but I even found this cafe because of Jungwoo’s joke about us being an “Escapees Failing to Escape” group.
When I first heard about it from those District 11 escapees, I thought it was BS, some delusional rambling. But it was real. ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ
Does that even make sense?
The serpent master must be incredibly powerful, how did Shade and Eric manage to take it down? Ah, this is insane. We’re only at District 8, how can there only be one Korean ranker left? ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ
If you’re reading this, Heroes, you were truly Korea’s heroes. Thanks to you, this small country is recognized internationally, and there are even foreigners learning Korean despite having translators.
For three years, it wasn’t “Do you know kimchi? Do you know bulgogi?” It was “Do you know Hero?”
Make a personal channel or something and tell us about the game. I’ll subscribe. I know it’s against the rules to contact the outside world, but can’t you just break them?

The internet buzzed with activity. The heat was mainly focused on District 8, but there were occasional posts about the deceased ranked players. For their fans, it was like a three-year investment crashing. Given the close bonds within the guilds and their widespread popularity, these players were likely to have met offline or appeared on broadcasts. Yet, people were skeptical about Shade. For three years, Shade had never revealed himself. Come to think of it, why wasn’t Shade2002, the world’s number one player, active in the real world? What drove him to be so obsessed with Escape?
There were rumors about Shade being a woman, being ugly, being a spy, even being an alien. Every possible theory circulated online. But none of them explained why Shade, who cared so much for his guildmates, couldn’t meet them in real life. Perhaps only Shade knew the reason. In any case, Heroes was gone, and only Shadows remained. The heat from the land where light had vanished would soon cool. It always did.
Escape mirrored reality in some ways, and that meant the dead were quickly forgotten. Everyone thinks they’re the main character of their own story. But reality keeps rolling on, regardless of the main character’s state. That’s reality. The reality outside the story.
