Percival’s skin was the palest among the five men.

‘At least when he’s not in his beast form, that is.’

But now, Percival’s skin had a sickly bluish tint. Even under the lamp’s light, his complexion looked so poor it hardly seemed to have any color at all.

“Percival, are you really okay? You look different from before…”

“Sorry for worrying you, Madam.”

Percival wiped his face, flushed despite his pale skin. His raven-black bangs slipped forward as he roughly swept his face. With every passing moment, the shadows beneath his violet eyes grew more pronounced.

“Strangely enough, though I’m embarrassed to say…”

“Ah, then shall we hurry out?”

Maybe some harmful substances still linger underground. If Percival was affected, it might soon spread to the others.

Carter silently observed Percival’s condition and nodded.

“We should leave quickly. Then we can notify those above—”

But just then, the youngest husband by physical age called out cheerfully,

“Wow, Lady! I found something really amazing.”

“What is it?”

“Looks like there are others still sealed away down here!”

“…..”

Why did he say that so cheerfully?

But there was no other choice but to rush over where Cassius was bending down to look.

Hidden in the shadow of the wall, they belatedly realized there were long coffins leaning upright against it. Unlike ordinary coffins, their lids seemed made of opaque glass and were hazy inside.

“Cassius, what is this…?”

“These are sealing containers holding materials.”

Cassius tapped on an empty coffin with a shattered glass lid.

“This must be where I was asleep.”

“But you said you were sealed. Do you remember anything from that time?”

“Magic weakens over time… Luckily, I regained consciousness just as Mrs. Norton arrived.”

“But Mother…”

Eugenie looked toward the other sealed containers. Unlike the empty ones, the coffin near where Cassius was trapped remained closed.

A shadow flickered inside the opaque glass lid — clearly someone was still asleep.

There was no sign anyone had disturbed it from outside.

‘Could it be Mother?’

Eugenie glanced uneasily at Cassius, who shrugged indifferently.

“Can’t be helped. Mrs. Norton was too weak back then.”

“…”

“Besides, who knows if that one over there is already dead? When I left, there was no sign—”

“No.”

“Yeah?”

Eugenie cautiously approached the closed coffin, placing her palm gently on the glass. She could feel a pulse through her palm.

“It’s alive… I can feel the magic.”

Perhaps it was time for the person sealed inside to awaken.

‘And now, I have more magic than mother…’

There would be no need to force any “contract” magic on them. Since the decision was made, it would be best to finish this quickly and bring the ailing person safely above.

“I’ll try waking them.”

“Eugenie, wait!”

Carter grabbed Eugenie’s shoulder as she rolled up her sleeve.

“Are you sure? You don’t even know who’s inside.”

“But we have to save them first, right?”

“Eugenie… what if they attack after we rescue them?”

Watching Carter argue, Cassius gave a look that said, ‘Overprotective much?’ but reluctantly nodded.

“The priest isn’t wrong. The Sabnac family might be striking in appearance, but their character is the exact opposite.”

“I know. But waking this person will do more good than harm.”

Though she included even her own husband in her criticism, Eugenie kept a level head.

“Judging by the size of the shadow inside, the person trapped here is much older than you. Maybe they know more about magic too.”

She learned about black magic through Cassius, but information on magic stones or magic in general was scarce. Cassius had been too young when trapped.

So having even one more person besides that twisted tree pervert who can provide information would be a huge advantage.
