Chapter 142
Despite always being so aloof, her old rival’s pride seemed to waver as he struggled to speak. Even if it was influenced by the moment…
‘Like with Cassius, if I could see his secret, it’d be easier than having a conversation.’
Tsk. How many more s****l encounters would it take to unlock that fussy man’s secret?
‘Wait…come to think of it…’
Eugenie realized something she had forgotten: Carter, walking ahead of her, still hadn’t revealed the secret that had led him to form a contract with Theodora Norton.

Elaine’s room was nearly suffocating by the time Eugenie arrived.
There were the five tall men, doctors, and castle staff crammed into the room. Eugenie sent everyone except the five men out and explained the situation to Elaine, who stared blankly.
Although Elaine had lived a hundred years ago, thanks to magic, she automatically understood modern speech.
Eugenie still felt a twinge of fear explaining the situation.
‘What if she becomes emotionally overwhelmed?’
What if, after a century, she was shocked and began crying… Eugenie had no plan for emotionally comforting her.
Yet Elaine’s response was calm.
“I see. Thank you for saving me.”
Eugenie was genuinely impressed.
‘From the banker, to Professor Racquette, and now a woman from a hundred years ago…’
How did these people understand situations so perfectly without lengthy explanations?
Elaine shrugged casually.
“Why make a fuss? Those people are dead, and I’m alive. My body’s still twenty, so it’s an advantage. If I had woken in a hundred-year-old body, it would have been frustrating.”
“True. And there’s no one deserving sympathy anyway.”
“Yes. Even if they were my blood, they deserve to die.”
Elaine looked at Cassius, who was observing silently.
“So at least one survived, right? His name’s…Cassie?”
“Cassius.”
“Ah, nearly got it. Too bad.”
She said this without a hint of regret and turned to Eugenie again.
“Thank you for waking me, but I don’t have any remarkable abilities, so I can’t really repay you… That’s why I was chosen as a material.”
“You don’t need to repay with ability. But it would be good if you know something about magic.”
“Ah, that’s fine. If you have questions, I’ll answer.”
Elaine nodded casually. Even in a morally corrupt Sabnac family, one mutant existed, it seemed. She pointed at the five men and said:
“But I want all five males out. I can’t breathe with them here.”
…It seemed some genetic traits persisted.

Eventually, the five men waited quietly in the parlor until Eugenie emerged. None of them wanted it, but Elaine insisted.
“Five big men all staring at me at once… It’s overwhelming, like there’s a barrier in front of me.“
Alfred anxiously watched Elaine’s room the entire time.
“Is it really okay to leave Eugenie alone with her? She’s from a dark-magic family a hundred years ago…”
“Hmm. It should be fine.”
Ah, the overprotective Southern hero. But Cassius explained calmly.
“Elaine’s abilities weren’t that remarkable anyway. If she had potential to excel, she’d have been accepted as a normal member.”
“Hmm…”
“And Lady in that room is stronger now. She could beat her in muscle alone.”
“…”
Alfred didn’t argue. Clearly, Eugenie, who had been active, was physically stronger than a woman who had slept a hundred years.
Then Percival spoke:
“…Everyone except the Madam is present, so I have something to say.”
Has anything else happened in the mine? All eyes turned to him, but his words were unexpected.
“I intend to properly propose to the Madam from now on.”
The four men were silent for a few seconds. Alfred, who had exchanged a few words with the Duke, spoke first:
“We’re already married to Eugenie, Duke. Even our official titles—”
“Wilberforce, I know what you’re trying to say.”
Percival blushed slightly, embarrassed at his lack of eloquence, but his voice remained steady.
“What I mean is, I want to be the Madam’s one and only husband from now on.”
