‘If I ask, I could sleep with any one of the five men.’

But when she thought about showing that side of herself to Magnus Napier, she felt as though something sharp had lodged in her throat, making it hard to breathe.

Was the feeling at that time shame?

No, it wasn’t.

‘That kind of thing was long sold out the day I wore five rings.’

To be precise, it was a sense of reality.

The reality of the situations that came with the contract and the emotions that would follow.

At first, the thought of hitting Agatha and Apollin had her excited to marry all five. She was fine even on the first night. At least she hadn’t looked at the faces of the other men.

But from now on, she knew it wouldn’t be so easy…

“Sigh, but for now, I’ll focus on what needs to be done first.”

The Tristan incident had made the next steps clear.

First: Find someone to properly inform her about her mother’s old family and magic.

Second: Get a handle on how magic works.

‘And lastly…’

But as Eugenie was about to think of the last thing she had to do, she clicked her tongue in frustration as a servant politely delivered the letters that had arrived today.

A few seconds later…

“Ah… AAH!”

A scream that rattled the windows of ‘the Madam’s bedroom’ echoed through the air.

“Madam, what happened?!”

At that moment, Percival, the one assigned to her care, rushed in, shouting. Eugenie was clutching her hair with both hands, trembling.

Anyone would think she had received a blood-letter, but the letter itself seemed quite harmless at a glance. However, Eugenie struggled, her amber eyes shaking with fear.

“I…! I’m in big trouble. This time it’s for real!”

“Madam, calm down. What exactly does it say…?”

“My thesis advisor called me…!”

And it was an urgent situation where her entire graduate life was on the line.

* * *

Introducing Eugenie’s thesis advisor, Fugliss Fuglid Racquet.

A man who had once been vigorous in his youth, proud of his healthy marriage and his strong reproductive abilities, now a distinguished gentleman (65 years old) with a white dandelion-like beard and mustache.

He had also been the one who, while Eugenie was preparing for her undergraduate graduation, had coaxed her with warm tea and guided her onto the path of graduate school—the path she should have avoided.

“Wouldn’t you like to contribute to the Empire by developing new materials, Miss Eugenie Norton? I believe you are more capable than anyone else.”

No matter how smart Eugenie was, could a young undergraduate from the academy beat a slippery professor like him? No one had ever told her that, no matter how kind and gentle a professor might seem, after graduation, they often became a demon of royalties to their students…

It wasn’t until she received the letter from him in his office—”Let’s have an honest talk about your future”—that Eugenie prayed for the world to end.

But that prayer didn’t come true. Instead, she found herself in the professor’s office during the holiday period, like today… She had tried to suggest that they meet in a more secure place, like her honeymoon home, but that was never going to work.

“Miss Eugenie Norton, welcome. Congratulations on your marriage.”

“Thank you, Professor. I apologize for not being able to attend at the time. I had to crash Apollin Norton’s wedding.”

“Haha, don’t worry about it. It seemed like a situation that needed urgent attention.”

Eugenie, a little flustered, presented a box of the finest cigars from Corbenic. Apologies without anything to offer were meaningless.

In fact, Eugenie wasn’t the type of person to think about gifts. She was notoriously bad at choosing presents.

For someone who could pick out such a high-quality item, it was clear who among the five men decided it.

‘Napier is useful in moments like this.’

When the professor’s face lit up, it was clear she had succeeded in changing the mood.

“Oh, thank you. There’s been an epidemic going around in this region, and it seems like it’s been quite a hassle.”

“What do you mean, Professor Racquet? If it’s for you…”

“But tell me, Miss Norton, do you not want to graduate?”

“…”

Receiving a precious gift and immediately cutting to the heart of the matter without hesitation—this was where Professor Racquet was superior to Eugenie.

With his overwhelming position as a professor and his sharp tongue, how could she possibly win?

“Sometimes, I wonder if you, Miss Norton, just want to be taxidermied and displayed in my lab.”

“…”

“Do you remember when Melanie Jasper graduated last spring? By the way, she was two years your junior.”

Eugenie’s lips trembled uncontrollably.

It was strange. This seemingly harmless, modest gentleman—how was it that everything he said felt more painful than being struck on the back of the head with a textbook?

Yes, the infamous femme fatale of the Hermeland Empire’s history was actually…
