Hello everyone! there are changes in the chapter numbering, I had edited it to the correct arrangement as there was confusion in the chapter count. Apologies and enjoy the translation!

Why was she sleeping in a place like this? And where was this, to begin with?

Questions arose. Paiki neatly folded the newspaper he was reading, placed it on the table, and approached the bed where she was sitting.

“That’s right. You slept for quite a while. But for someone who slept so much, your complexion is still pale.”
Paiki, who had been examining Aniella’s complexion, clicked his tongue briefly.

“Sleep some more.”
She wished he would explain the situation first, but Paiki didn’t seem inclined to do so. Although it made her nervous, she had no choice but to ask directly.

“Um, Your Grace. Where are we?”

Aniella looked at Paiki with wary eyes and asked. The man standing by the bed glanced around the room and answered proudly.

“A house I made.”

He flicked his index finger through the air. Following the movement of his finger, the furniture in the bedroom swiftly changed positions. A wardrobe moved to where the table had been, and a bathtub appeared where the chairs were. Moreover, large and small doors densely appeared and disappeared on the walls.

As he suddenly showcased his skills like a party trick, Aniella’s eyes widened in astonishment.

“You’re using magic without even chanting an incantation?”

“I rarely chant incantations when I use magic. I can still use it, so.” Paiki answered with a bright smile. Aniella was so surprised her mouth fell open.

‘Marius always boasts about how he barely manages to levitate a single cauldron by reciting long, tedious incantations… How could he ever claim to be rivals with Duke Paiki?’

In Aniella’s mind, she could hear the voice of the skinny, irritable magician loudly complaining in anger.

“Won’t other people be surprised if you use magic so freely?”

“Other people?”

“Like your servants. If the mansion’s structure keeps changing, it must be, um, quite difficult for them.”

After asking, her confidence waned and her voice grew quieter. How he managed his own servants was entirely his business. They weren’t close, and as a mere guest who had hitched a ride, she had no right to comment.

“I’m sorry. That was overstepping.”

“So, I’ve used magic too recklessly and made you anxious. Is that it?”

“No!”

Aniella, who had turned pale, exclaimed.

“I actually work as a magician’s assistant. Ah, you might misunderstand, but I’m not a magician. I’m a non-magician. You might think it’s odd for someone like me to work as an assistant, and yes, it is strange, honestly. And pathetically, even though I’ve been working as an assistant for about a year, I still get startled every time I see magic. So I asked just in case, but thinking back, it was a foolish question. Your excellent servants probably aren’t as timid as I am.”

Despite her desperate excuse, his expression showed no sign of improving. His eyes were narrowed, staring at her, and the corner of his mouth was slightly upturned, as if mocking a woman who dared to challenge him.

“Timid. Yes. You certainly don’t seem particularly bold.” Paiki affirmed. Even though she was the one who said it, the words felt like they stabbed right into her heart.

“I’m sorry……” The dejected words she muttered seemed quieter than the sound of an ant walking. Was she apologizing to him for being timid? Why? She knew it was strange, but she apologized again out of habit.

Paiki crossed his arms, thought for a moment about her question, and then reached a conclusion.

“If they were cleaning a piece of furniture and it suddenly disappeared before their eyes, well, they would be surprised. But they wouldn’t be able to see it, so it’s fine.”

“They wouldn’t be able to see it?”

Did he mean that only the interior structure of the bedroom changed, and those outside would have no idea? Aniella thought. As expected, I spoke out of turn. She deeply regretted it, thinking the Duke would find her meddlesome and be displeased.
