Chapter 11
How should I check?
While I was lost in thought, Raphael, who was standing guard over me on Arle’s orders, asked in passing.
“Nun, what do you think of that power?”
“Hmm, I don’t know about anything else, but it’d be extremely useful for killing demonic beasts.”
Raphael turned to look at me as though he didn’t understand what I meant.
“Making things float around like that?”
“The way I see it, that isn’t simply the power to make objects float. It’s a power capable of tremendous destructive force.”
“I don’t get it.”
I tried to recall the basic physics theories I’d learned in my previous life.
“Think about the apple I dropped earlier. If you can make an object float, that means you can also drop it.”
“……”
“You could lift a demonic beast and drop it, or you could drop something onto a demonic beast. The faster and higher you raise it, the greater the destructive force would be.”
“…You’re pretty smart, aren’t you?”
Raphael stared at me with wide eyes and let out a disbelieving laugh.
“I told you!”
“It felt like you skipped over quite a bit earlier.”
“Ha!”
I crossed my arms and snorted, but on the inside, I was busy calming my startled heart.
‘He’s surprisingly perceptive.’
Raphael might seem playful about everything, but he was by no means an easy man to deal with.
Meanwhile, Arle, whose five senses seemed to have grown even sharper after his awakening, appeared to have heard our entire conversation.
“I see. Height, speed.”
As if he’d realized something, he nodded, slowly closed his eyes, and opened them again.
At the same moment.
The wooden swords and spears that had merely been floating around suddenly came crashing down like a downpour.
And all of them struck a single point.
Thud, ratatat!
His accuracy was so high that several of the spears had split the wooden swords and lodged themselves into the cracks.
A chill ran down my spine.
“…Wow.”
To think he could already control a power that had only just awakened to that extent.
There was a reason Arle was called the strongest Commander in history.
Arle approached me with a noticeably brighter expression and inclined his head slightly.
“Reverend Sister, this is all thanks to you. I don’t know how I should express my gratitude.”
“I didn’t do anything. You were the one who accomplished it, Commander.”
“No. Without your interpretation, I would never have realized it.”
Seeing the faint smile he gave me made a surge of emotion rise inside me.
‘Beautiful.’
That humble manner of his, and that endlessly sincere attitude.
And that was why I became sad.
‘I have to defile a man this pure.’
I wanted to preserve Arle exactly as he was now, in his ideal state.
I didn’t want to ruin his purity with my own hands.
‘Ha, this is seriously upsetting.’
But I couldn’t exactly let him die, either.
“Commander, would you mind taking off your glove for a moment? There’s something I’d like to check.”
“Will one hand suffice?”
“Ah, yes.”
Without the slightest suspicion, Arle removed one white glove and held his bare hand out to me.
He probably thought I intended to observe something.
But blatantly betraying his expectations, I pushed my fingers between his pale ones and interlaced them with his.
His skin brushed ticklishly against mine, then our skin pressed firmly together.
For an instant, Arle’s fingertips trembled faintly. I thought I even heard him draw in a breath.
‘I’m truly sorry.’
I had deliberately touched the tender skin between his fingers because I wanted to induce a slight amount of pleasure.
S****l pleasure amplified wavelengths and increased guiding efficiency.
But despite going that far, the sensation flowing through our joined skin was already telling me the answer.
‘Maybe it dropped by 3 out of 100. No, 4?’
Light contact like this wasn’t nearly enough.
For the numbers to change by any meaningful amount, we would at least have to kiss and tangle our tongues together.
In the end, the worst-case scenario had become reality.
‘What do I do? This is a disaster.’
How was I, a member of the clergy, supposed to kiss Arle, another member of the clergy!
The problem was so serious that I was agonizing over what to do, but at that moment—
“You! What the hell are you doing?”
Raphael’s sudden shout shattered my concentration.
His voice was loud enough to make my ears fall off.
