Chapter 73
Even as his heart ached, the way his body was reacting on its own made him feel no different from a beast.
“Then let’s do it at my palace. The Lanas manor is someone else’s home, so it’ll be more comfortable here.”
He had his own intentions, but Ephinia, who had no way of knowing them, nodded. In truth, she had completely let her guard down. She was under the mistaken belief that if a political marriage partner with superior lineage and ability as a Guide appeared, she would certainly be discarded.
So she thought it didn’t matter what she did with Kasselard. As long as she didn’t become pregnant.
‘I’m wearing a contraceptive ring, so there should be no problem!’
There was only one thing that bothered her. Kasselard had suddenly clung to her in tears. She didn’t understand the reason.
‘But there’s no need for me to worry about it.’
He must have his own concerns and difficulties. She didn’t need to consider them as well. She was his Guide, not his attendant or aide.
She was neither his lover nor his wife, so why should she go that far?
Ephinia knew her place. She was only someone refined enough to stand beside the Crown Prince without shame, and in the end, someone truly suited to him had appeared.
‘I just need to be glad that I no longer have to hold out until His Highness turns twenty-seven.’
She had her own problems to worry about, so why should she worry about someone else? In any case, he only needed to receive proper guiding. That was what she intended to do starting today. Now she no longer had to worry that penetrative guiding would bind her to him.
‘Doing this with him isn’t bad at all. I’ve been curious while guiding him anyway…’
Ah. Was this just an excuse in the end? Was she thinking this to ease her guilt for going this far because of the situation?
Ephinia shook her head, as if to drive away the dark thoughts.
This was something she wanted. Even guiding in the previous way wasn’t impossible, it only required doing a number of embarrassing things.
Honestly, she was curious. If it already felt that intense just from being touched, what would it feel like with penetration? Would it really feel overwhelming enough to feel like dying, or would it be nothing special? She wanted to know.
Holding her hand, Kasselard walked half a step ahead of her. When they left the administrative palace and boarded the carriage, he held her tightly in his arms.
Ephinia felt slightly uncomfortable but said nothing. Kasselard was smiling as he looked at her, but he also seemed to be holding something back.
‘This feels strange.’
She had only come to his palace briefly, and after guiding, she would return to the Lanas manor around evening. That was what was ‘the usual’.
She didn’t think anything else would happen. But why…
‘It feels like if I go in now, I won’t be able to come back out.’
When Ephinia looked at Kasselard, he turned his head to look at her. His expressionless face broke into a bright smile as it filled with her image. Yet something about that familiar, beautiful face felt off.
Why?
Before she could hesitate any longer, she was being led by Kasselard’s hand into the deepest part of the Crown Prince’s Palace.
* * *
This feels like… a newlywed couple’s room.
The place Kasselard led her into was a room decorated entirely in soft pink. Rose petals were scattered across the floor and the bed, and the space overflowed with flowing white lace curtains and pink decorations.
Rather than the dignified bedroom of the Crown Prince, it felt more suited to an Imperial Princess or a future Crown Princess, which made her hesitate slightly.
“What’s wrong?”
Kasselard asked, pulling her by the waist into his arms. Neither attendants nor his aides had followed them inside. The door had been closed long ago, and the silence made it feel as if they were alone in the world.
“It doesn’t feel like Your Highness’s room. I didn’t know you liked pink.”
“This is the Crown Princess’s room. My room is next door.”
Ah.
Ephinia flinched and looked at Kasselard. Instead of his own room, he was deliberately planning to do this in the Crown Princess’s room?
‘The marriage hasn’t even been decided yet…’
If the future Crown Princess found out about this, she probably wouldn’t be pleased. But with rose petals already scattered across the room, decorations arranged everywhere, and magical lights glowing, it didn’t seem like he intended to change the location now.
