The werewolf was looking for Hansel while she was standing right in front of him.
How strange. With a werewolf’s sense of smell, he should have recognized her just from her scent. Why doesn’t he realize it’s her? Especially since this guy even licked her bare chest back then.

The memory made her blood boil. She vividly recalled how this lustful mutt had almost gotten her assaulted by ten hunters. After repaying her kindness with betrayal, he had the audacity to talk about ‘an ideal mate’?
“Taking her as your mate? That’s never going to happen. You should give up and go find another woman. Didn’t you abandon her and run off back then? What woman in her right mind would like a man who leaves her behind?”

The werewolf’s golden eyes wavered, visibly flustered. He avoided Hansel’s gaze, rubbing his mouth awkwardly as he muttered.
“It couldn’t be helped. On full moon nights, only instincts remain. Since I caught the scent of the master of the forest, my wolf’s survival instinct took over and… wait.”
He suddenly turned to face Hansel directly.
“You do know her, don’t you?”
“No one under the sky knows her better than I do. That book you’re holding—there’s highlighting all over the chapters about werewolves, right? That’s why you got even more interested in her, isn’t it?”
“Ah.”
He let out a soft exclamation, as though realizing something. After a brief silence, his lips curled into a smirk.
“Well, yeah. She does seem pretty interested in werewolves. She knew all about my rut cycles and the size of my… equipment. Judging by her notes, it’s almost like she’s already had a firsthand experience with me.”
“T-That’s just… she has a good imagination!”
“That she does. Just thinking about the contents of that book gets me going. If I meet her, I’m confident I’ll blow her mind.”
“Well, t-that’s between you and her when you meet. Handle it however you want.”
Hansel focused her thoughts to avoid glancing at his g***n, though her cheeks flushed uncontrollably. She feigned indifference as she replied casually.
“I’ll tell you where she is. But in exchange, you have to agree to one condition.”
“What is it?”
Hansel met his golden gaze directly.
“Take me out of the forest. Personally.”
The Herodt Wolf. The werewolf of the northern forest. Those were his two infamous nicknames, signifying that he was the only one capable of traversing effortlessly between the mages’ city and the northern forest.
If she used him, she could escape the forest safely. Tonight wasn’t a full moon, so there was no risk of him transforming into a wolf.
It was, without a doubt, the wisest choice Hansel could make.
The werewolf shrugged lightly.
“If that’s all you want, I’d be happy to help. I don’t mind girls like you.”
He smiled slyly, his eyes narrowing mischievously.
“Girls like me?”
“A naïve little thing who doesn’t realize how cheeky she is.”
Hansel frowned slightly, wrinkling her nose.
How dare he evaluate me like that? Rude.
At home, she might have been treated poorly, but as a member of a noble family, Hansel’s position was one to evaluate others, not to be judged.
She particularly despised men like him—smooth-talking, overly familiar types.
She preferred someone with an air of noble grace, like a royal prince. A man whose dignity shone through even when his hair was tousled or his clothes were wrinkled, much like Dante.
The werewolf’s demeanor irked her. That smug expression hinted he’d had plenty of women before. He seemed too practiced, too jaded, as though he would habitually flirt with others behind her back.
A man like Dante—awkward but loyal—that was far more appealing.

Hansel snapped herself back to reality, looking up at the werewolf.
“Stay at least a meter away from me. Just get me out of the forest, and nothing else is allowed.”
“Yes, yes, as you command, Princess.”
The werewolf’s agreeable response put Hansel slightly at ease. Things seemed to be going smoothly.
At least, that’s what she thought.
