Chapter 16
“Did you see the woman’s face?”
“Her face? I don’t know. I could only see her hair color. It was a light color.”
“Was she a noble? Not from a big family, I hope?”
“There are no visitors from a big family in Erdel. I managed the visitors yesterday, so I know very well.”
“I hope she’s a woman from a weak family with a nasty temper.”
“No, but Pavel, more than that, yesterday…….”
“What are you guys plotting again?”
Pavel stumbled awkwardly from the merciless kick that sent the box he was sitting on flying. When he turned around, the noble Holy Knights were looking down at them, as always.
“What? What are you staring at?”
Holy Knight Ryan gave a small laugh and kicked the box again.
Erdel was a special zone with a large temple, and its security was handled by the Holy Knights of the temple, not the lord.
Erdel followed the laws of the temple. The kingdom also couldn’t interfere with what happened here, if possible.
It was a popular resort for nobles due to its natural beauty and management by the temple. However, a side effect was that pleasure facilities that took advantage of loopholes in the laws were rampant.
And the Holy Knights in charge of security in Erdel were divided into local nobles and commoners, fighting amongst themselves.
“That, it’s not like that, Lord Ryan.”
“Not like what? You were thinking of playing a trick on Lord Rogerick again, weren’t you?”
“I wasn’t.”
Ryan, a petty local noble compared to Rogerick, always identified with him and defended him. But no one was unaware that while he defended Rogerick in front of commoners, he would curse him behind his back, his words slurred.
Ryan squatted down. Because Pavel was short, their eye level matched even though Ryan was sitting on a box.
Ryan put his arm around Pavel’s shoulder and looked only straight ahead without meeting his eyes.
“Do a good job. Huh? You’re a baronet’s son, aren’t you? Even if you’re not a noble, you’re a quasi-noble, so set an example.”
“…Yes.”
“In that sense, go do a job.”
For Ryan, Pavel’s silence was a yes. He smiled contentedly, pulled Pavel toward him, and whispered in his ear.
“Go to the forest. Sweep through the inside.”
“The whole big place?”
“The tourists who came for a picnic said they couldn’t go because they kept hearing screams. Two families came and told us today.”
Screams? What a ridiculous thing to say.
The precious people who were so naive must have gotten scared by the animal sounds they were hearing for the first time and ran away.
Perhaps his sulky expression showed, as Ryan’s face turned cold.
“Hey, what if a rumor spreads that Erdel’s public order is bad? If all the tourists stop coming, will you take responsibility?”
“…No, I won’t.”
“Then do a good job. Do you think you can be a Holy Knight for the rest of your life? No… you have to do a good job.”
Ryan closed his eyes and gestured wildly for them to hurry and get up. At that, the commoner Holy Knights, including Pavel, hesitantly stood up.
Behind the squatting Ryan, the noble Holy Knights were lined up as if they were his shields. They all raised their chins and looked down on the commoner knights.
“Search the entire forest. Find out why there are screams and report back.”
“…Yes.”

Returning to Violet House, she was completely exhausted.
Cecilia secretly entered the mansion, washed away the traces of her fight, and lay on the bed. Margaret went to get rid of the hired carriage.
‘I wonder if she’s gone by now.’
Today, when Rogerick Montieux was off duty, was the perfect opportunity. The Holy Knights Cecilia had designated had to find the crime scene. The very commoner knights who had sent Rogerick to this party.
She had heard the full story of how Rogerick ended up at this party that morning. The commoner Holy Knights had wanted to find a fault with Rogerick.
“So your colleagues brought you here to mess with you.”
“Maybe…… that’s it.”
She wasn’t even curious as to why they had done such a thing. However, she was intrigued by the existence of the person who was the biggest contributor to making the commoner Holy Knights resentful of even Rogerick, who treated everyone equally.
The other noble Holy Knights besides Rogerick. They had created a rift by looking down on the commoner-born knights.
It was the perfect situation for a third party to break in and take advantage of.
“Hmm, should I get revenge for you?”
“Huh?”
“I really can.”
Rogerick laughed it off as a joke, but Cecilia was serious.
‘After all, it was their fault that Cecilia’s life got even more tangled.’
