Chapter 22
‘It has to be a part of me that can heal that breaks.’
It was the moment Cecilia gritted her teeth and let go of the reins.
Bang!
Her body froze at the sound of a gunshot.
Cecilia instinctively focused on her heart. But there was no pain.
At the same time, the white horse slammed on its brakes.
“Kyaaah!”
A terrified scream escaped her lips. She tried to hold on to the reins and brace herself, but it was far from enough to stop her body from being flung off by the momentum. Cecilia’s body flew through the air.
‘At least a serious injury.’
If this weak body were to hit the hard, rocky ground, the result was obvious.
Anticipating the pain to come, Cecilia squeezed her eyes shut.
A warm body wrapped around Cecilia. And together, they collapsed to the ground.
“Ugh!”
Because her body was so thin and weak, a groan escaped her even from a shock like that. But she didn’t seem to be hurt. It was thanks to the person who had covered her and fallen to the ground instead.
It must be Rogerick. Cecilia, who was certain, barely managed to get up and look at him.
“Roger—!”
He wasn’t Rogerick.
A handsome man with a firm jawline was lying there. He had a good physique. A person who used his body, clearly. And his blue eyes that looked at her seemed like fire, not water.
And the beauty mark under his fierce eye was just like…….
“…Ryang?”
A name escaped her lips without her realizing it.
Cheong-ryang was a man with a slender build and a supple waist. He was a boy whose broad, smiling face was as refreshing and pure as soda.
He looked completely different from this man, who was like a dangerous beast covered in smooth muscles. And yet, her mouth moved before her reason.
The man stared intently at Cecilia. His blue eyes were so deep she couldn’t tell what he was thinking.
“Oh my.”
A low, smooth voice flowed from his lips.
“Were you imitating a cat just now?”
The man’s eyebrows twitched and his lips curled into a playful smile.
It was a smile with a density that could not be compared to Ryang’s.
‘…As expected, that can’t be it.’
She felt ashamed that she had even suspected he might be that boy just because of a single mole under his eye.
Cecilia’s expression unconsciously twisted, and she quickly pulled away from him. But the man’s arm, which was wrapped around her waist, suddenly and firmly pulled her close. The small gap between their bodies instantly disappeared.
“Huk!”
The man’s upper body was as big as a mattress. Cecilia’s soft chest, lower abdomen, and slightly crossed legs were all pressed against him, as if they were fusing together.
“What do you think you’re…!”
“Oh, is this not what you meant?”
The man said something she couldn’t understand and raised the corners of his mouth charmingly.
“You started by acting all cute, so I thought you didn’t want to fall.”
He’s insane. He’s not going to listen to reason.
It was when Cecilia was about to clench her fist to punch the man. He conveniently let go. Cecilia quickly got up.
‘The horse…!’
She had been worried about the white horse ever since she heard the gunshot, as there had been no sign of it. Cecilia turned around. A large hand suddenly covered her eyes, making everything black.
“What are you doing!”
“It’s a sight you don’t need to see.”
As if he expected her to struggle, he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close. Thanks to this, she could feel the man’s hot body temperature and the volume of his thick chest against her lean back.
‘What kind of person is this?’
Cecilia bit her lip, trying to find a weak point in the man. But it wasn’t easy. Her vision and arms were blocked, and since she was sitting, she couldn’t use her legs either.
“Cecilia!”
“Rogerick!”
Just then, a voice like a savior’s was heard.
Cecilia cried out his name with all her might without realizing it. The sound of horse hooves grew louder and louder until they stopped. The sound of a person dismounting and approaching her in a hurry filled her sensitive ears.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
“Lord Rogerick Montieux?”
The man who was holding her had his chin resting behind Cecilia’s ear. Thanks to this, the man’s voice tickled her. She bit her lip to stop herself from instinctively flinching away.
“…Shouldn’t introducing yourself be a secondary matter to ceasing the rudeness you’re inflicting on a lady? Let her go.”
“I don’t know, that might not be a good choice.”
“Are you saying you can’t resolve this with words?”
“If you’re going to put it that way.”
In an instant, the man’s body heat that had been surrounding Cecilia disappeared. Cecilia jumped up and went to Rogerick. Rogerick embraced Cecilia as if to protect her.
‘…Ah.’
Cecilia held her breath at the sight she saw behind his back.
