“How is he?”

David suddenly approached Cecilia.

“How is what?”

“Lord Rogerick’s posture. Does it look okay?”

“Hmm…….”

It was a little clumsy, as it was his first time holding a gun. But Rogerick was also a well-built knight. Since his physical mobility was good, he was also good at imitation.

“How would I know?”

But if she told the truth, she would only look suspicious.

Rogerick, who had created a posture quite similar to David’s, carefully aimed the gun. He micro-adjusted the muzzle and then, click, loaded it.

“…Ah.”

Cecilia involuntarily sighed.

‘He’s going to miss.’

Bang! The bullet, fired quickly, missed the rabbit completely.

It was obvious to someone who had held a gun since her teenage years. The posture that had seemed fine was ruined the moment he focused on the target.

If Rogerick had been her subordinate in her previous life, she would have smacked his head and corrected his posture before he even fired the gun—that’s how messed up it was.

‘Ah… that’s really.’

Her body was itching to run over and fix his posture for him. But she had to hold back.

“…Can I shoot one more time?”

“Of course. You can use all the bullets you have.”

Cecilia secretly shook her head.

‘Even if you use all the bullets, you won’t be able to hit it.’

It was because she could already see Rogerick’s potential.

***

Bang! Bang, bang! Bang!

Rogerick adjusted his posture this way and that as he shot. Viscount Lenard and Count Vermonte also gave him some advice. After about five shots, one of Rogerick’s bullets was lodged in the rabbit’s ear.

“…Ha!”

Cecilia let out the breath she had been holding. Only then did she feel her pent-up chest ease a little.

But it was only once.

Bang!

‘Ah, he missed again?’

He had already wasted ten precious bullets, but his skills hadn’t improved at all. If he just fixed his posture a little, it would get better. It was frustrating enough to drive her crazy.

Just then, a slow, lifeless clapping sound was heard.

“For a first-timer, that’s not bad, Lord Rogerick.”

Anyone could tell that it wasn’t a genuine compliment but a taunt. Rogerick’s expression fell, but David didn’t care and suddenly stepped forward and looked at the group.

“Since Lord Rogerick has also held a gun, I was thinking of making a small bet. What do you say?”

“Ah, the Grand Duke will obviously sweep everything up!”

“I’m obviously not participating. Just the gentlemen here are enough, aren’t they?”

David, who had answered Viscount Lenard, turned to Cecilia.

“And it would be even better if the lady joined us.”

“I’m fine. Just watching is interesting enough.”

“Hmm, if that’s what you want, then I can’t force you.”

He smiled as if he was being polite, and he bantered with the other male nobles.

“What do you all think of competing for a 30-year-old bottle of Balford wine from my villa?”

“My goodness, that precious wine?”

Viscount Lenard opened his mouth wide and was delighted. Count Vermonte also seemed tempted. Cecilia’s head also whipped towards him.

‘Of all things, wine?’

Wine was Cecilia’s favorite alcohol. And it was a top-grade wine that even a noble would be surprised by.

‘If it’s a wine from here, isn’t it a true tradition?’

It was a prize that any wine lover would be tempted by. Cecilia found herself looking at Rogerick without realizing it. If he won, she could brazenly demand the wine.

‘…But he absolutely can’t win.’

No matter how little talent the other two men had with guns, they would have some experience, so it was clear that there would be no upset with a clumsy beginner winning.

***

Bang! Bang, bang! Bang, bang!

Does this bet have any meaning?

Cecilia, who was sitting in a chair a servant had brought her, watching the shooting, felt a frustrating feeling that made her want to burst.

“Ah… I can’t seem to get a handle on it today.”

Count Vermonte, who shook his head, clearly had presbyopia. His aim was wrong from the start. Seeing him rub his eyes behind his glasses as if they were blurry, she wondered if he was even looking properly when he shot.

“Perhaps it’s because the beautiful lady is watching. I think I’m a little too nervous, haha!”

Viscount Lenard, who had stepped up so confidently, was no different. He was tall, but his shoulders were particularly narrow, so he couldn’t properly absorb the recoil of the shot.

‘What a waste of his lanky height, what a waste.’

Even so, he was currently in first place for hitting one side of the rabbit’s shoulder, which was closest to its heart.

And Rogerick was…….

“Your eyes lit up when I mentioned the wine. You want it, Cecil?”

“Can you win it for me?”

“I’ll do my best if you want it.”

And he was.

Bang! Bang, bang!

He was truly only doing his best.
