Cecilia held back the body that was about to shrink and put strength into it. She straightened her neck, put on an unbothered expression, and nodded.

This was a necessary help. All she had to do was say she would accept it.

“…Okay.”

Saying that, Cecilia bit her tongue.

‘Okay?’

She had said a word that made her face flush for no reason.

Yes, okay. Do as you please.

Instead of her usual cold, low-temperature agreement, a raw positive word she had never used before had popped out.

In reality, it was nothing. David probably didn’t even feel anything strange. Only Cecilia was conscious of it.

Even her face was flushed. It was a good thing David was behind her. At least he wouldn’t have to face this red face directly.

“…Cecil?”

But Rogerick was looking directly at Cecilia.

Her stiff, rigid body, her flushed face. The woman and man clinging to each other.

Cecilia, feeling guilty for no reason, hurriedly slipped away from David. Rogerick, who had been engrossed in piercing the target, lowered his gun and approached. His expression was solemn.

“You… are you really going to shoot that?”

His gaze, which had been darting between David and Cecilia, was now fixed on the gun in Cecilia’s hands.

It was a relief.

She didn’t have a malicious habit of poking at uncomfortable spots when it wasn’t necessary. Cecilia flashed the smile she had been practicing in the mirror.

“I got curious after seeing the gentlemen do it.”

“It’s too dangerous, Cecil.”

He took a step closer with a worried face.

“The recoil is severe. You might fall over if you shoot it.”

“That’s why I decided to help Lady Cecilia. You won’t have to worry anymore, right?”

David smirked and shrugged his shoulders.

Rogerick’s expression hardened a little. It was as if the unpleasantness he had been hiding was inevitably leaking out.

“I will help Cecilia.”

“For Lady Cecilia’s safety, it would be better for someone who is familiar with guns to help her.”

“That’s…….”

Rogerick’s eyes wavered. But his hesitation didn’t last long.

“……I understand. Please take care of her, Your Grace.”

“Lord Rogerick talks too much, for no reason.”

David’s gaze at Rogerick, who had bowed his head respectfully, was not very pleased.

But it was only for a moment. His face, as he spun around to face Cecilia, was already brightened.

“Then, shall we go and have a new experience?”

***

“Hahaha, well, well. A lady with a gun…… it doesn’t suit her at all.”

When Cecilia finally stood at the shooting line with a gun, gazes full of displeasure poured down on her.

Viscount Lenard and Count Vermonte were scrutinizing Cecilia with faces that were about to click their tongues. Among them, Viscount Lenard was the most desperate to pick a fight.

“Lady Cecilia, a gun isn’t a toy, but a weapon of death. You know that, don’t you?”

Cecilia, who was gauging the weight and distance of the gun, looked back at him.

It was amusing how he had been constantly making unnecessary conversation to get her attention just a moment ago, but had so quickly changed his tune just because she had stepped into his territory.

“I don’t know about that.”

The best way to deal with ignorant fools was with ignorance.

“It looks like a toy, to be honest.”

“W-what? What do you mean?”

Viscount Lenard’s expression turned grotesque at her unexpected retort. Cecilia soberly shouldered the rifle.

The stock settled deeply on her shoulder as if it were embedded there. The smooth wooden gun barrel fit perfectly in both of her hands. It was a little unfamiliar, but as she aligned the rear and front sights to focus, the familiar sensation returned.

Her breath slowed on its own. The only thing in Cecilia’s gray eyes was the target seen through the sights.

“Cecilia.”

She felt the presence of a large man. David supported Cecilia from behind, just as he had before, wrapping his arms around her.

His thick hands carefully wrapped around Cecilia’s small hands. His chest was pressed tightly against her back without an inch of space. It was truly a protective stance, just as he had said, solely to absorb the recoil.

‘…He’s quite good.’

He must have taught many people himself, as he was the owner of a gun business.

His posture was quite skilled. There was no shaking. Thanks to him, Cecilia could fully concentrate on the target.

Although she was a little conscious of the man clinging to her, it wasn’t difficult to maintain her composure as long as she was holding a gun.

Even though her body had changed, her concentration, which she had built up from the past, remained the same.

The wind stopped. The front sight, which had been swaying slightly, was now perfectly aligned with the center.

Cecilia, holding her breath, pulled the trigger.

Bang! Bang, bang!

‘Ugh!’

The recoil was so strong that she almost let out a moan. It was only natural, as it was excessively old-fashioned compared to the ones she used in her previous life. Because of that, her aim seemed to have shifted a little. Cecilia quickly lowered the gun and checked the target.

The waiting servant ran up to the target, checked it, and shouted.
