Chapter 39
She was so flustered that her head wasn’t working properly. Cecilia couldn’t find a single word of refusal and obediently turned her back to him.
“Women’s hairpins come in a variety of shapes.”
“…….”
“There are shapes that snap and hold your hair, some that are like clips, and some that are like combs, like this.”
“…….”
“But doesn’t this one look a little dangerous?”
The metallic claws plunged into her braided and tied hair.
“It sticks well in hair, but.”
Again on the other side, plunge.
“It looks like it would also stick well into a person’s body.”
“…….”
“If you shove it in the right spot, I think it could even be used as a weapon.”
Cecilia held her breath.
“Cecilia Cissil.”
He gathered and tidied up Cecilia’s disheveled hair.
“Don’t you think it’s too dangerous to turn your back on me like this when you don’t even trust me?”
His whispering voice was mixed with unconcealable laughter.
“What would you do if I were to stab you from behind, huh?”
‘This crazy bastard…….’
Cecilia gritted her teeth.
‘If I falter here, I’ll be completely trapped.’
She had been subjected to leading questions like this until she was sick of them. She knew exactly what kind of reaction an opponent who came at her like this was hoping for.
She absolutely had no intention of playing his game.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Grand Duke.”
Cecilia immediately turned around and looked up at him.
“Just tell me if it looks good on me.”
She tilted her neck slightly so he could see easily. Her pale, slender neckline, which had been hidden by her long silver hair, was fully exposed.
If David were to grab her with his large hand, he could easily cut off her breath. Cecilia deliberately acted as if she knew nothing, leaving herself defenseless.
He wasn’t trying to kill Cecilia. He just wanted to confirm it one more time.
‘How on earth did he know?’
There was no basis for him to identify the culprit. There was no evidence. The only witness was Rogerick.
Rogerick Montieux would not have sold her out like this. If it were him, he would have come to Cecilia first and tried to persuade her.
‘……But why is he staring for so long?’
The silence was too long.
Just as Cecilia, unable to endure it, was about to call him again.
‘…Hmpf.’
She flinched at the sudden sensation of something stroking her neck. It wasn’t a fingertip, but a bent knuckle. The rough bone scratched her skin like a feather.
The ticklish sensation that started from there felt like it was penetrating her whole body. The stimulation sparked like a firework.
Cecilia pressed her thumbnail firmly into the flesh of her thumb.
“…What are you doing?”
“Ah.”
Like he was waking from a dream, David flinched. He quickly moved away, looking back and forth between his hand and Cecilia’s neck.
“…My apologies, it was rude.”
Cecilia blinked, looking at David, who was uncharacteristically flustered.
‘What is this…?’
What?
Anyone would think he had really come to court her without any other intentions. Moreover, his expression was quite innocent.
It was absurd for a man who, by his appearance, looked like he would have a different woman every night, to act this way.
While Cecilia was dumbfounded, David, who was rolling his eyes around, opened a new bottle of wine as a smokescreen to cover his embarrassment.
“Your glass is empty.”
“No, stop… Ah!”
Cecilia had only intended to stop David from pouring the wine.
But her hand shot out more roughly than she expected and even hit his full wine glass. The bright red wine spilled all over David’s lower abdomen and pants.
He stopped, holding the wine bottle. Their eyes met.
How long did the explosive silence last?
He, who had been staring at her, lightly raised one eyebrow.
“Elegant ladies usually express themselves this way.”
“What…….”
“Because if you ruin my clothes, I have to take them off?”
The wine bottle was placed on the table with a clink. David slowly unbuttoned his shirt. His gaze still hadn’t left Cecilia.
“It naturally ends up like this.”
The moment his chest was revealed through the undone shirt, her head felt like it was getting drunk.
“It usually ends with just the shirt.”
The front of David’s shirt was completely unbuttoned. His body looked far more beautiful and solid than she had imagined. Even just a part of it, she couldn’t take her eyes off of it.
“But my Lady Cecilia even wet my pants.”
He tapped the wet spot with his finger. If she looked closely, his left thigh was bulging more than the rest of him.
‘Ah.’
The heavy piece of flesh that was inside was automatically drawn in her mind. Cecilia involuntarily swallowed a mouthful of saliva.
David laughed intimately.
“How can you be so careless?”
His tone was a mix of blaming her and finding her cute.
“Even though I warned you to be careful.”
“……A warning?”
At that single word, her mind became clear. Cecilia let out a hollow laugh and glared at him.
‘It’s not a warning, it’s a threat.’
It was a threat that she couldn’t even tell what he wanted.
