Chapter 41
“……What did you say?”
“It would be enough to shut me up for life.”
David smiled broadly.
Cecilia was speechless and could only gape, barely managing to let out a hoarse voice.
“Are you… toying with me right now?”
“Why? Do you think the price is too small?”
It wasn’t just small. It was a price that made no sense at all.
This was not a negotiation, or anything.
David grinned and then began to hum a song. Cecilia felt like screaming. She truly felt like she would have no regrets in life if she could just hit that bastard once.
“I just wanted to pass it off lightly because I like you. If you don’t like it, there’s nothing I can do. Then, how about one more thing.”
He boasted as if he were being generous, pouring wine into her empty glass.
“Sleep here today. Get drunk drinking with me and just pass out.”
Even as the red liquid poured, his smiling eyes were fixated on Cecilia.
Until the wine was about to ungracefully overflow from the glass. Endlessly.

Cecilia opened her eyes.
It was an unfamiliar bed. Her mind snapped awake at the sight of the antique interior, with morning sunlight streaming in.
She was lying on David von Raphaeli’s large bed in his villa.
Cecilia jumped up in a fright and felt her body. She also checked the empty space beside her.
“Ha…….”
Her clothes were the same as the ones she wore yesterday. There was no trace on the bed either. Her body was also the same.
Only then did the memories of last night come flooding back like a broken dam.
“See, you’re drunk.”
“……That’s now.”
“I’ve been telling you that you’ve been drunk since a while ago, haven’t I?”
His laughing voice had been terribly ticklish in her ear. She rubbed her ear, as if the sensation still remained.
David was ridiculously gentle. While he poured her wine until she was completely drunk, he dutifully took care of her.
And yet, he didn’t lay a finger on her. He only kept up with his worthless word games.
It was strange.
She hadn’t doubted that his goal was her body after seeing him feed her so much alcohol, and yet…….
“What the hell…….”
She had no idea what that bastard was up to.
And that’s why Cecilia began to fear that man.
She wasn’t afraid of a fierce person, a malicious person, or a person with power or strength.
Those with desires can be read. If she knew what they were going to do next, a way to deal with it would always appear.
But David von Raphaeli was different. That man’s mind was filled with things she couldn’t possibly understand.
It was too gentle to be a threat and too much b******t to be a warning. It was too hard to even guess what he was doing for the future as a way to hold a weakness against her.
So, she was scared that the very small omen she had missed now would roll into a large snowball later and suffocate her.
‘At least I know for sure that this body can’t handle alcohol.’
Cecilia let out a hollow laugh, holding her throbbing head.
His chiding her for being careless was true. Yesterday, she had chugged alcohol in front of the man she should have been most wary of, without even knowing her own alcohol tolerance.
Was it because she had resolved to live completely as Cecilia Cissil? It was sometimes hard to distinguish between the person she was in her previous life and her life as Cecilia.
Just then, knock, knock, a small knock was heard.
“Lady Cecilia. If you are awake, I will help you with your preparations.”
“…Come in.”
A servant came in and bowed politely. Their rigid demeanor, compared to the people of the Cissil family, was noticeable.
“I will help you with your bath. After that, my master has requested to have breakfast with you, would that be alright?”
“It is.”
It was a proposal she had no reason to refuse. Cecilia got up from the bed.
***
“Ah, Lady Cecilia.”
She thought they would go to the dining room, but a breakfast table had been set up in a corner of the bedroom.
Cecilia, who had been running her hands through her hair with a slight bit of dampness left on the ends, paused. So that’s why they were insisting on finishing her hair preparations, she realized the servant’s intentions a little late.
David, who was sitting at the round table, waved his hand. There were only two chairs, and the distance between them was shockingly close.
“Sit down, here.”
“…This arrangement isn’t proper.”
“Ah, I just don’t like formalities.”
His grinning face, as if last night had been a dream, was an eyesore.
“Is that alright, since you’re a member of the royal family?”
“It’s probably alright because I’m a member of the royal family.”
David filled the water glass of Cecilia, who sat next to him.
“It seems Lady Cecilia doesn’t like formalities either.”
“Let’s just eat breakfast.”
“My, you’re not even putting on a show for me anymore…….”
Suddenly, David’s words were cut short. Cecilia, who was sitting down, looked at him.
“Grand Duke?”
After calling him, she flinched. It was because the distance was too close.
Their eyes met at such a short distance. The man’s flawless features were so clear it felt like they would be etched into her mind.
In addition, his moist, deep-blue gaze was scanning her.
From her hair, which was not completely dry, to her face, neck, and wrist. She couldn’t stand it, it was as if his gaze was licking her.
“..….I made a mistake.”
He made a strange expression that was neither a smile nor a frown.
“I should have fed you in the morning.”
“…Why are you doing this?”
“Do you know that when something gets wet, its scent becomes stronger? A person or anything else.”
“…….”
“That’s just so… stimulating.”
“Eh?”
“No, your face is red.”
Sending her a hot, explicit look, his red tongue licked his lips.
