“Haah… Vallon! Stop it already! I feel like I’m going to tear down there!”
After what felt like countless rounds, Vallon finally lay down next to Leticia. Her mind was swirling with chaotic thoughts, but at least when she was with him, she could escape those overwhelming worries.
It was becoming increasingly troubling how comfortable she felt in his arms. She wasn’t used to being disregarded by people, and their scornful gazes suffocated her.
“I’m still not satisfied,” Vallon murmured.
Lately, with her growing sense of helplessness, Leticia found that her desire to escape from Vallon had diminished. As crazy as it seemed, she was… getting used to him.
Strangely enough, compared to the people who mocked her, Vallon’s embrace felt more comforting. How could she explain the calmness and serenity she felt the moment she saw his face earlier?
Was she losing her mind?
But in a situation like this, staying sane seemed even stranger.
Now, even visiting Vallon’s room no longer felt awkward. In fact, she was worried that she had grown too accustomed to it. She feared she might get used to the idea of living in this insane reality, mistaking it for her normal life.
As long as she acted compliant, conflicts with Vallon had almost entirely disappeared. In fact, they hadn’t occurred at all recently.
Turning her head, Leticia gazed at Vallon. Even drenched in sweat, with his disheveled appearance, he still looked stunning.
‘A lunatic with nothing but a perfect shell.’
That’s how she defined him. But what was his weakness? Could she ever truly escape from this madman?
Her investigation into his powers had come to a halt under Vallon’s watchful eyes. But she hadn’t given up. Somehow, she needed to find his weakness, so that when she graduated from this academy, she could finally leave his side.
Was there a way to escape without putting anyone else at risk? If anyone helped her and failed, their life would be in danger. It was best for her to handle this alone. Not that there was anyone willing to help her anyway.
“Why are you staring at me like that?”
Vallon asked, though his eyes were closed. Somehow, he knew she had been watching him.
What could she say? That she was imagining smashing his head in and escaping? Silence was the best answer for now.
When a question was too difficult to answer, sometimes it was better not to say anything at all.
“What do you think of my face, Leticia?”
“Why are you asking me? You look in the mirror. You should know better than I do.”
She didn’t want to compliment him on anything, especially not his appearance.
Besides, her life at the academy was in shambles, and she blamed Vallon for more than eighty percent of it.
If only he hadn’t meddled with her family’s business, Leticia wouldn’t have been sold off to the red-light district. So yes, he was the root cause of everything.
“I’m just curious about what you think. Don’t you think I’m quite handsome?”
Vallon’s hand slithered like a snake over Leticia’s stomach as he spoke. His seed still clung to her body, making her feel uncomfortable.
Whenever he caressed her abdomen like that, it felt strange—almost ritualistic, as if he was hoping for a child.
‘No way, that can’t happen.’
Although she was secretly taking contraceptive pills, she knew she had to prevent that possibility at all costs.
Even though it was just her imagination, the thought sent shivers down her spine. She coldly brushed his hand away. But Vallon simply moved his hand to hers, gently guiding her fingers to his face.
“I think I look pretty good. Is there anyone in the academy better looking than me?”
“What?”
“Everyone seems to be busy staring at my face, but it feels like you’re the only one who doesn’t like it.”
He wasn’t wrong. There was no one at Arvata Academy more handsome than Vallon.
Leticia’s dislike for him had nothing to do with his appearance. But she had thought about this before.
If Vallon’s looks hadn’t been so ominous from the start, if he had approached her with that angelic face, she might have been easily swayed. With a face like that, wouldn’t it be strange not to fall for him? Although, once she realized he was insane, it likely would have ended the same way.
“Leticia, I love how things are right now. No one talks to you anymore, right? Heh…”
Did Vallon know something? His last laugh grated on her nerves. It was the kind of laugh that suggested he found something incredibly amusing but was holding it in.
“You didn’t spread rumors, did you?”
“Rumors about what?”
“Don’t play dumb. You know exactly what situation I’m in.”
“Oh, that? I told you already, it wasn’t me.”
His carefree attitude drove her crazy with frustration.
Leticia’s mind raced. Could she ever break free from this beautiful, insane man who had her trapped ever so tightly in his clutches?
