Chapter 161
Unlike the hand kiss I received from a knight at the training grounds before, this one was exceptionally dry.
It was cold and arid. But I knew that this man’s inner passion wasn’t like that, and given that many people were watching right now, I appreciated his plain manner.
Standing face to face, I raised my arm high. It was unavoidable since Isaac was exceptionally tall. Even in this banquet hall, it would be hard to find someone taller than him.
“You can lower it comfortably.”
“Ah…… is that allowed?”
“Yes. I’ll adjust.”
His low voice, almost like a whisper in my ear, made it tickle strangely. When I inevitably held closer to his elbow, his large hand firmly supported my back.
Originally, he would have held my waist, but it seemed unavoidable due to our significant height difference. The problem was that my current dress had quite a low back…….
‘This feels strange.’
Even through the thin gloves, I could feel his warmth. It might have been fine if we were complete strangers.
But having shared mana with him, I kept being conscious of how these firm hands had caressed me and grown hot back then.
Even though we were just dancing, here I was having such thoughts. Embarrassed, I turned my head slightly and waited for the dance to end, though for different reasons than with Killis.
The dance finally ended. After finishing the second dance, I was slightly out of breath. After dancing with Reno, I could rest, so I’d need to take a break then.
After leaving the hall with Isaac, I looked for Reno. Knowing it was his turn, Reno approached me first and extended his hand.
“Your Highness, would you grant me the honor of accompanying you?”
“Of course…….”
“First Princess, Your Highness.”
Just as I was about to take Reno’s hand, an unfamiliar voice interrupted. I couldn’t ignore it since it addressed me specifically.
Looking for the source of the voice, I saw a handsome man with brown hair dressed in formal attire.
‘He seems familiar, but where have I seen him?’
As I tilted my head in confusion, the man bowed properly and greeted me.
“May the light of Lublin be with you. I am Robeum Oratio.”
Even hearing the name didn’t ring any bells. But his face was familiar, so I kept staring at him. He seemed to read my puzzlement in my gaze.
“Previously, at the training grounds, Your Highness bestowed upon me a crown made of leaves.”
Ah, now I remembered.
He was the man I saw at the training grounds when I was suddenly called by Evgenia and stopped by there. Mentioning the leaf crown confirmed it.
“The change in location and attire made it hard to recognize you.”
I wasn’t particularly good at remembering faces to begin with, but the last time I saw him, he wasn’t wearing a top. While that time his physical features had left a strong impression, seeing him now in neat formal attire made it difficult to connect him as the same person.
“I can’t help but feel disappointed. I believed your promise to remember me.”
Did I say something like that?
Since it wasn’t a particularly meaningful occasion, I remembered less than I forgot about that day at the training grounds. Still, knowing how passionate the royal knights there had been, words of apology naturally flowed out.
“I’m sorry. But I do clearly remember how excellent your skills were that day.”
“Yet you don’t remember me.”
I didn’t expect him to be so direct and persistent about it.
“If you’re truly sorry.”
As I was choosing my words, he spoke first. Then he extended his hand to me. Since Reno had already extended his hand to me, it created a seemingly competitive situation.
“Would you grant me a chance as well?”
His expression and eyes showed he hadn’t even considered the possibility of being rejected by me. Some might see it as confidence, but to me, it looked like arrogance.
He should clearly know that protocol required me to dance with my guardians, yet he was using my failure to remember him as an excuse to request a dance.
