Chapter 175
But I had no intention of changing my mind. My belief remained unchanged—if I had to share mana, Reno would be preferable to Isaac.
When I kissed Reno, I didn’t dislike it. No, rather…… I liked it…?
Dazedly touching my lips, I startled and pulled my hand away. Just moments ago, I’d been agonizing over how to face Reno, and now I was reminiscing about our kiss?
The way my thoughts kept shifting so rapidly was downright bewildering.
‘It’s all because I have too much free time.’
If I were swamped with work, I wouldn’t have the leisure for such worries.
Not that I wished for endless incidents like before, but having nothing to do was its own problem.
Of course, this respite wouldn’t last long. Once The Trial of Lublin began, I’d be busy again.
‘Come to think of it, I don’t remember seeing the quest completion notification?’
Closing the Affection window, I opened the quest log to check.
[<Hidden Quest> Trial of Qualification. (In Progress)]
‘It’s really not completed yet?’
Wasn’t it supposed to end once Killis became my guardian? Why was it still ongoing?
As I puzzled over the quest description, my eyes caught a newly added line at the very bottom:
[―Success: Linked Quest ‘Trial of Lublin’
(※Conditions have been met.)
(※Rewards are being calculated. The linked quest will proceed once calculation is complete.)]
My eyes caught on the newly added line at the very bottom, and I froze.
‘This wasn’t here before.’
And not just that—”rewards being calculated”? I’d never seen this before. At least the time limit was gone, and the conditions were marked as fulfilled.
While I was still examining the quest log, a maid knocked on the bedroom door. “Your Highness.” When I permitted entry, she stepped inside cautiously.
“A guest has arrived to see you.”
“A guest? Who?”
Cirilla? Or Killis? But it seemed too early for Killis.
Before I could wonder further, the maid spoke a name I hadn’t expected.
“Duke Equus has come to visit.”
As far as I knew, there was only one Duke Equus—Cirilla’s father and the Second State Secretary, Equus Cecil.
Why would he come to see me……?
“Did he mention his reason for visiting?”
“I asked, but he only said it was a personal matter and wished to speak with you directly.”
So what was this personal matter?
I couldn’t even begin to guess. After brief hesitation, I headed to the parlor where Equus Cecil waited.
I was curious about his purpose, but I had no reason to refuse. At least he wasn’t as hostile as Morris Futurum.
“Your Highness, it is an honor. May the light of Lublin be with you.”
“May the light of Lublin be with you. Welcome.”
“Thank you for receiving me despite my sudden visit.”
Equus Cecil greeted me calmly. After exchanging pleasantries and sitting down, a brief silence fell. Given our lack of closeness, it was only natural.
‘Well, I should at least try to make conversation…….’
Fortunately, Cirilla was a topic we could both discuss.
“I was glad Cirilla came yesterday.”
“It’s only natural she would attend, given Your Highness’s kindness toward her.”
His smooth reply confirmed his goodwill. Just as I relaxed and prepared to speak further, Equus Cecil cut straight to the point.
“Actually, I’ve come regarding Cirilla.”
