Chapter 180
“That’s right.”
“It’s different from the ceremonial attire Isaac and Reno wore, isn’t it?”
“Yes. Since I’m not a knight, they said it would be better to make it different.”
Killis nodded readily. Actually, this was something that could be noticed without asking. He was wearing a cape-style mantle that couldn’t be found on either Isaac or Reno.
It certainly looked more like a mage’s robe than a knight’s uniform.
“I compared it with the Duke’s before Your Highness came out, and the basic style seemed similar.”
“Similar?”
“Yes. It just has a cape instead of a mantle.”
That means, in other words…….
“Don’t tell me Killis’s ceremonial attire also has an opening in the back?”
Instead of answering, Killis turned around to show me his back. Like the front, the cape was split in half at the back too.
Thanks to this design, when he raised his arms, the lower part would lift as well, revealing what was underneath.
I thought at least Killis’s attire would be normal since the cape covered everything, but I was wrong.
“I was told it’s a tradition passed down since the first Evgenia and unavoidable. Lublin insisted that the back must be open because it gets in the way.”
“Gets in the way?”
“Yes. Apparently, she enjoyed polymorphing just her wings while remaining in human form. So she preferred clothes with openings in the back.”
“Excuse me, what is polymorphing?”
“To put it simply, it’s transformation magic.”
So she frequently manifested wings on her back, and because clothes got in the way, she just made openings in the back?
‘I thought it was just someone’s ideal aesthetic preference.’
I was surprised to learn there was actually a reason behind it.
“But you weren’t wearing this at the banquet, were you?”
“It was still being made at that time. I received it recently when they said it was completed, but I didn’t expect to wear it so soon.”
Killis kept fidgeting with his ceremonial attire, apparently still feeling awkward and self-conscious in his new clothes. Knowing he would get used to it soon, we headed toward the audience chamber.
The audience chamber was filled with many nobles. We passed through the crowd standing on both sides of the central aisle and headed toward the high seats, where Cirilla and Equus Cecil were visible.
“Sister.”
Cirilla waved her hand with a small gesture, barely visible to others. I responded with a smile and stood beside her, in the middle of exchanging greetings with Equus Cecil.
The audience chamber doors opened again, and Meliana entered with her guardians. With an expressionless face, she looked around and went to stand next to Morris Futurum and Duke Futurum.
It wasn’t intentional, but we ended up facing each other like opposing sides. Though there were many eyes watching, preventing any open hostility, Duke Futurum’s gaze upon me was quite sharp.
He had never looked at me kindly before, but it seemed to have worsened. Well, it didn’t matter since he wasn’t someone I could win over to my side anyway.
“Her Majesty Evgenia arrives!”
As soon as the attendant’s announcement ended, Evgenia appeared. She sat on the throne placed in the center of the high seats. Once seated, a knight requested everyone to pay their respects to Evgenia.
“We are in the presence of Evgenia. May the light of Lublin be with you!”
“Thank you all for coming.”
After exchanging customary greetings, Evgenia spoke again.
“The reason I’ve summoned you all today is to make an important announcement.”
“…….”
“The First Princess, the Second Princess, and their guardians, step forward.”
