Segleninde closed his eyes in dizzying pain.

When he opened them again, this time, he was standing in the corridor of the mansion.

“Ha ha ha!”

From the far end of the hallway, someone burst out laughing and ran toward him. It was Segleninde himself, wielding a longsword. He was chasing down fleeing humans, cutting them down one by one.

Segleninde silently watched his past self. Soon enough, he was slashed by the sword wielded by himself, cutting through the splattering blood, losing an arm and being pierced through the chest before collapsing. He was then hacked to pieces over and over, coughing up blood.

His body was sliced up like a piece of paper. It was excruciating.

‘So this is what it felt like.’

Sia must have felt the same agony when she died by his hands. Hadn’t she cried out for her parents?

Why had he been so cruel in trying to kill such a pitiful person?

“…Ha ha.”

A hollow laugh escaped him as the blade pierced his throat for the last time.

After that, Segleninde kept experiencing death, again and again, just as Sia had. He intended to die in the exact same ways she had died, for as many times as she had.

He was impaled, crushed, torn apart, ripped out, hanged himself, sliced, bitten.

It was not actually happening, but hallucinations taking place in his world of consciousness. But because he had placed a suggestion on himself, every bit of pain was just as vivid as the real thing. This was the punishment he should have received from the very beginning.

After countless deaths, Segleninde finally reached the last turn.

He looked at his own face, which trampled him with an anxious expression, and stabbed his own neck with the Instant Death Dagger. As he spat out blood, his consciousness faded.

And once more, when he opened his eyes,

He was back at the very first banquet hall. The place where Sia had died for the first time.

“……”

Again, his body was pierced by a spike that rose up beneath his feet.

He intended to repeat this torment for all eternity. Just once was not enough. He would keep going around and around until he fully understood the pain she’d felt. Or rather, even after understanding, he would have to die endlessly, as if he had fallen into hell.

If he could never see her again, and if it was his own hands that had brought about that result, then he deserved to remain in hell forever.

Thinking that, just as he was about to throw himself into a fourth repetition of hell—

[You’re being ridiculous.]

A voice, so vivid, pierced through his world of consciousness.

At first, Sia felt not just absurdity but outright anger.

Watching her own death from Segleninde’s perspective, as if she were just a spectator, brought back all those memories of dying so painfully and horrifically. She thought it only right that he should suffer in the same way for all the deaths he had given her.

But what was the point of showing her this? Was he trying to show her how he was repeatedly suffering horrible deaths, begging her to finally forgive him out of pity for all his effort? Sia, on the verge of tears, watched him die from start to finish.

Just as he wanted, she tried to release some of the long-standing pain she’d been holding onto. To be honest, at first, it was a little satisfying.

That is, only the first time.

After Segleninde stabbed himself in the neck with the Instant Death Dagger, it all reset to the very beginning.

Then he died again, in exactly the same ways Sia had died. He generally didn’t scream, but sometimes, when he couldn’t bear it, he groaned or lost consciousness with a pale face. When that happened, he would force himself to wake up and continue accepting the remaining pain.

When the second round reached its end, Sia wanted to close the laptop. She couldn’t watch anymore. Twice was enough. Was he really planning to repeat this for all eternity?

‘No. He could just be showing it to me, but maybe he’s not actually feeling any pain at all. Don’t feel sorry for him. Don’t.’

But despite her resolve, her eyes kept drifting back to Segleninde, who was repeating her deaths.
