Chapter 195
Without even properly seeing the letters being carved one after another over the flames reflected on the wall, she emptied every plate in an instant.
All the food was extremely delicious.
According to her current memories, even when she lived in the Mage Tower, apprentice mages could only put food permitted by their master into their mouths. The justification was that it was to control the flow of mana, but in reality, it was to save on the food expenses spent on apprentice mages.
On top of that, Mage Cynthia’s master just happened to be someone famous for his eccentric temper. Because of that, Cynthia had always eaten only food that was like scraps.
As she recalled, among the foods she had eaten since coming to this world, there had been almost nothing proper. At least when she had first been a princess, she thought she had eaten decent meals, but after that, when she had been a knight or a nun, it had always been only simple fare.
When she had been a thief, she had always been starving, to the point that it was fortunate if she could eat even potato peels once a day.
‘I wasn’t exactly the type to eat properly even on Earth either…’
Because of that, eating a proper meal like this felt newly moving. Perhaps thanks to that, she even inwardly relaxed toward the unidentified shadow that kept carving letters over the light.
“Yeah, quite.”
When Cynthia, who had cleanly emptied every plate, answered while drinking water, the shadow rippled gently over the light.
Since she was only wearing a bathrobe, it had been rather cold, but perhaps because her stomach was full, her body was comparatively warmer now. Even so, a chilly air still lingered.
As if it had read her mind, a fire was lit in the fireplace that had only been dark until then.
Thanks to that, the air grew warm in an instant, and the inside of the room also became fairly bright. She could see everything, even the microfiber blanket covering the bed and the bathroom door behind it.
So you can stay as long as you want It won’t be dangerous I’ll make sure it isn’t dangerous
The kind words carved one after another melted Cynthia’s tension.
But she could not simply keep staying here. She had to find her companions, who had fallen away from her at some point she did not know, and there was no telling where the villainous mastermind might appear from.
‘That bastard figures out where I am right away no matter where I am and comes looking for me.’
Putting aside the fact that this being was reading her thoughts, Cynthia burst into laughter without realizing it. It was not a sneer directed at this kind shadow, but something like an exclamation that rose reflexively at that absurd assumption.
“Misses me? He must miss me because he wants to kill me. He’s deceived me how many times until now for that.”
The shadow fell silent. Anger suddenly rose in Cynthia.
“Do you know how many times I’ve died since I was dragged here? And not just me, countless people have died. On top of that, it’s not as if I only saw that once or twice!”
There were memories that were finally becoming clear.
Mage Cynthia had uncovered the entire truth. Through her outstanding magical skill, which even her master had envied, she had realized everything, even the fact that she had transmigrated into this world countless times and had lost all those memories from before.
“Do you know how many times I was toyed with by that bastard? I will never forgive him. If I had my way, I’d kill that bastard the same way too! No, no. Just killing him wouldn’t be enough. I’ll put a leash on him for the rest of his life, make him crawl beneath my feet like a dog, and beat him until he begs me to kill him!”
At least if he had not acted as if he had truly fallen in love with her in this iteration, perhaps she would not feel as toyed with as she did now. Cynthia ground her teeth.
“So I’m definitely going to get out of here, out of this mansion. As soon as my strength recovers. After I get out, no matter what method I have to use, no matter how many years it takes, I’ll find a way to kill Segleninde. That will be the price for deceiving me.”
