Cynthia reluctantly reached her hand over the dining table, now covered in sticky lumps of flesh and blood, and picked up the key. It was engraved with a crescent moon.

At first, she thought it was a rope. But under the sunlight that filtered through the Spring Blossom Garden’s sky—if that sunlight was even real—it gave off an unusually silvery gleam. Looking closer, its shape was very smooth, and it had no scales.
Its surface was slightly covered in mucus.
Upon closer inspection, it looked more like the stem of a delicately winding plant than a snake’s tail. In fact, here and there, it even had flowers blooming and sprouting leaves.
Cynthia realized the identity of this horrifying thing.
