Chapter 88
“……”
As Cynthia typed Segleninde’s name on the virtual hangul keyboard floating above the wooden panel, she thought: If she hadn’t known his real name, would he have continued to play the role of ‘Duke Wincastle’ in front of her until the end?

The moment she finished entering the name, the sound of the atelier door unlocking was heard.
Cynthia cautiously opened the door and stepped inside. The Ghost Rats that had guided her scattered in all directions, and a chilling draft swept in. The atelier, decorated with various luxurious paintings and sculptures, was strangely silent.
Even in the game, it was rare to reach this place, so Cynthia couldn’t remember whether it was actually safe inside or not, and tensed her whole body.
At that moment, the teddy bear spoke.
“What?”
Where the teddy bear pointed with its plush paw, a gleaming silver key lay atop an antique table.
Cynthia hurried over and picked up the key, still dazed. She couldn’t believe she’d obtained the key so easily.
The section between the third and Fourth Floors had always been filled with horror and pain. Hadn’t she needed to reload her saves dozens of times just to find a single key?
Yet now, it was as if someone had intentionally placed the key here for her.
The teddy bear seemed confused too. Cynthia nervously bit her dry lips as she stored the key in her inventory, secretly clinging to hope.
“…Couldn’t it be that Segleninde did this on purpose? To give me what I need?”
The teddy bear, regaining composure, quickly guided Cynthia somewhere else.
Before long, Cynthia found a large axe behind a bizarre plant statue, and inside a side table near the window, she discovered a new map. The teddy bear visibly sighed in relief upon seeing the axe.
“I already have a weapon. Do I really need this? It’s just heavy.”
Cynthia looked at the axe in her hand with a troubled expression. It was a bit heavy but not so much she couldn’t wield it. When she noticed the dried bloodstains on the axe blade, goosebumps broke out down her spine.
Looking closer, wasn’t this the weapon of the third floor boss, the head maid, whose fate was currently unknown?
“Ugh.”
Either way, since it was necessary, she couldn’t just throw it away. Cynthia, still uneasy, tossed the axe into her inventory.
Then, the moment she turned around—
“Sia.”
Segleninde was standing right behind her.
Cynthia barely swallowed back a scream and, paling, stepped back as she looked up at him, who had appeared without a sound. He silently lowered his gaze.
Perhaps he’d come out mid-shower, as droplets of water from his silver hair were soaking his shirt.
“…Why did you come here alone?”
His voice was unusually dark. Cynthia looked at him, her face full of fear. Through his long hair, his blood-red eyes, as if smeared with blood, stared gloomily at her.
As Cynthia fumbled for something to say, choices appeared.
1- Honestly, I didn’t want to be with you! 2- Someone led me here. 3- A choice you didn’t know about appeared and led me here.
Cynthia snapped to attention.
The choices she’d seen before leaving the master bedroom, and everything until now… Segleninde must have been able to interfere not only with her thoughts, but with the choices as well.
Right now, there was only one answer he wanted.
For her to confess the truth herself.
