Cynthia rushed over as fast as she could. Just before one of the Sentinels chasing her could touch her hair, her own hand reached the pendant first.

The tense atmosphere of the Sky Garden abruptly changed.

The Sentinels who had just been chasing Cynthia with murderous intent, hands outstretched, and even those who were facing off against Segleninde—all of them suddenly froze in place as if they’d turned to stone, every movement coming to a halt.

Cynthia, clutching the pendant, caught her breath and looked around the now-silent Sky Garden. Fortunately, Segleninde was safe and unhurt.

Segleninde, who had been silently gripping his sword adorned with white petals, approached her after a moment.

“Give me that. You said it needs to be activated, right?”

“…Do you remember how?”

Cynthia swallowed hard and asked. Segleninde strode over to the gazebo and stopped, his face showing clear anxiety. He looked as if he wanted to say something, then closed his mouth.

Cynthia took a step back from him. She tossed the pendant into her inventory and took a deep breath. From this point onward, there was truly no turning back.

“You knew how all along, didn’t you? From the very beginning. You never had any intention of letting anyone who entered this mansion leave, did you?”

Segleninde’s face hardened. Cynthia stepped behind the table and exited the gazebo through the gap on the opposite side.

“Did you think I wouldn’t find out? How long did you think you could keep fooling me?”

…I don’t know what misunderstanding you’re talking about, Sia. Come here. Damn it, I should have torn up that damn piece of cloth from the start.

“So you knew about the teddy bear, too.”

She had hoped he would be the one to confess first. There had been plenty of chances, like last night, or even now, having come this far together. There was ample time and opportunity to tell the truth and talk things through.

Neither he nor she had revealed the truth, and so they had come to this point with everything hidden. This, too, was only a natural outcome.

“I… really did like you, Segleninde.”

“Wait—!”

Sensing that something was wrong, Segleninde sprang forward to chase after Cynthia. At that moment, the teddy bear completed its preparations.

[It’s fixed! Now move!]

In an instant, Cynthia opened the ‘Save Point’ tab and selected one of the previously saved locations.

Ding—

Would you like to return to Save Point – Second Floor Hidden Secret Passage Room?

[ Yes ] / [ No ]

Cynthia quickly chose ‘Yes’.

Even as everything froze into a black-and-white scene, Segleninde alone moved, fiercely reaching out his hand. Just before he could grab her, Cynthia turned back time.

The secret passage room was a place that couldn’t be entered without passing through a space with an indeterminate location, and when Cynthia saved, she had been inside while Segleninde was outside. Soon, the floor would split and they would be separated.

When you rewind time, everything after that save becomes as if it never happened. If she used this well, she could immediately activate the magic device and open the mansion doors.

“Huu…”

Her vision spun for a moment, and then the Second Floor rest point came into view. It was the room she’d only been able to open after struggling with the d***o attached to the chair.

Cynthia calmed her pounding heart and opened her inventory. Just as the teddy bear had boasted, the magic device was safely inside.

“It really is still here?”

[See, I told you! Trust me!]

The teddy bear looked triumphant from inside her inventory.

[I used to be the top student at the Mage Tower before I was falsely accused and kicked out! Even if an item crosses the timeline, I can make sure it stays with you.]
