Why did you grant the wish to kill me? I have green eyes, and that child has purple eyes. Without realizing it, Aiden had begun to resent Novnie. It was at this moment that Aiden’s tears truly stopped.

The flames of anger, which could no longer distinguish whether it was directed at others or himself, finally subsided.

He didn’t even notice when he had caught his breath or when his blocked nose cleared.

By the time he regained his senses, Aiden was calm again. It was as if he had swallowed the sobs he had been holding back all this time, unable to cry out. The only evidence that he had cried were the dried tear tracks on his face and his split lip.

Herix didn’t just want to kill Aiden.

He had to kill him.

Herix had wanted Aiden’s death that much.

‘He desperately… wished for it.’

It was then that Herix fully disappeared from Aiden’s heart.

Since that day, the abode of spring had become another home for Aiden. Novnie had given everything to make sure that Aiden could live there happily.

The sweet scent of flowers, whose name Aiden didn’t know, tickled his nose. When he rubbed his face, a soft, animal-like creature with fur would lick his cheek.

When he woke up, little birds and cute herbivores would run to him, and after cuddling and playing with them, he would head to the pond where leaves would float toward him, one of which perfectly suited his need for a drink.

After drinking from it, he would turn his head and see Novnie sitting on a log that resembled a table and chair, smiling brightly at him.

“Did you sleep well?”

“Good morning.”

“I don’t sleep, though.”

“Right, of course.”

“Still, it’s been a while since I heard that greeting. In human terms… has it been about… 4 years?”

“Ah… Has it really been that long?”

Aiden looked around and saw a tiger-like beast carrying bundles of wooden planks. It was the calendar Aiden had made by hand.

“Yes, it’s been five years since I came here.”

“And you still haven’t forgotten the greeting.”

“Well, I guess so. It just kind of came out.”

Aiden awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck as he sat down on the wooden chair. With a gesture of Novnie’s hand, delicious food was suddenly placed on the table. It was food created by God, imitating the appearance and taste of what Aiden remembered.

‘This must be nectar and ambrosia too, right?’

Somehow, it felt as if he had become a god. No matter how much he ate, his body didn’t feel heavy, and even after eating something sweet without brushing his teeth, his teeth didn’t hurt. Maybe he had surpassed humanity too.

In the five years he had lived with Novnie in the abode of spring, Aiden had become somewhat arrogant. In fact, he wondered if, even if he wasn’t a full god, he had become a demigod by now.

‘In these five years, I haven’t grown at all, though.’

Now, Aiden was still the same 15-year-old boy he had been when he first arrived. His soul may have matured, but the five years he spent here seemed to prove that time had been disconnected from his true age.

As Aiden picked a small bunch of grapes and popped them into his mouth, Novnie, watching with a warm smile, spoke up.

“So, what now? A week has passed by your human standards. What emotion are you going to share today?”

Novnie’s green eyes were clearly filled with the essence of the abode of spring. There was no other explanation for why they glowed so vibrantly, without a single moment of dullness.

Aiden liked that Novnie’s eyes shimmered when they looked at him.

He was basking in the love and attention of a god—who could possibly refuse such affection?

“Hmm, I guess so. I feel like I’ve shared just about everything by now. You’ve learned that a person doesn’t just feel one emotion at a time, haven’t you?”

“Yes, that’s right. I was really surprised when I realized that. To think my descendants had evolved in such a way.”

Novnie exclaimed joyfully, clapping her hands.

Over the past five years, Aiden had taught Novnie about emotions.

Because Aiden and Herix both wished for opposite outcomes with Novnie, the god had ‘killed’ Aiden in the eyes of the people. Though Aiden remained alive, Novnie placed a doll made in his image, a corpse, in front of Herix, leading him to believe Aiden had died.

And the real Aiden, in exchange for teaching Novnie about emotions, was granted permission to stay in the abode of spring forever.

— Even if you stay here for decades, centuries, or even millennia according to your human standards, it won’t feel like more than a year when you go back to your world, unless you wish otherwise.

— Here, time doesn’t pass. It’s always… spring.

— Yes, though I can also adjust time to pass if needed. I call it ‘fast-forwarding.’

Novnie chuckled. Aiden sometimes found the way God thought to be eerie. The lives humans spent decades, or even a lifetime, building—those steps leading up to their existence—were just fleeting scenes to someone like Novnie, achieved with the flick of a finger.

‘Perhaps Novnie doesn’t really understand emotions, but only knows them theoretically,’

The basic foundation of emotions is joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure, and human emotions evolve and diversify as individuals experience different situations.

‘Novnie probably doesn’t even know the basics of joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure.’
