“No, we could just have a drink here. There’s no need to go to that stuffy room…”

“My bedroom is not a place for drinking, you idiot.”

It was amusing to hear the Emperor, who had clearly enjoyed that 520-year-old leech blood wine right here, say such a thing, but Lysei didn’t show any reaction.

“Come on, let’s go.” Zerga, already at the door, urged Theor. Theor pouted prettily and agreed. He flashed Lysei a quick smile and a half-finished “See you later” before Zerga grabbed his arm and pulled him out.

“Are you alright?” Edin asked as soon as Theor and Zerga left.

“Yes, I’m fine.”

Edin reached out and gently caressed her cheek.

“I’ll be back soon. You can sleep if you’re tired.”

“Oh, I’ll wait. I’m not tired…”

A quick, light kiss landed on Lysei’s lips, cutting her off mid-sentence.

“I’ll be back.”

Lysei’s face flushed instantly. Edin’s breathtakingly handsome face, coupled with a kiss that sent shivers down her spine and a warmth through her core, was overwhelming.

‘Seriously, what’s with all this sweetness? Anyone would think he’s talking to his lover.’

Lysei stared blankly after him, bewildered by his behavior. Only after he was gone, and she was alone in the room, did she realize her heart was pounding painfully. She pressed a hand to her chest and muttered, “Seriously, does he have to be this sweet?”

She had insisted she wasn’t tired and would wait, but alone in the large, TV-less room, sleepiness overwhelmed her. The massage from the maids during her bath seemed to be taking effect now, adding to the drowsy, languid feeling. Lysei blinked her heavy eyelids and lay down on the sofa.

She wasn’t sure how long she slept, but she awoke to something warm and soft against the back of her neck. Soft, gentle lips trailed down her back. She had fallen asleep on the sofa, but the smooth, comfortable surface beneath her suggested she had been moved to a bed. Face down, no less.

‘Why would he put me face down?’ she wondered, her eyelids still heavy. Suddenly, a hot breath ghosted over the space between her b*ttocks.

Startled, she flinched, and her waist—or rather, her hips—were lifted. Lysei blinked, taking in her position, her bottom exposed. Before she could fully process the embarrassment, something soft and wet pressed against her.
