Chapter 3
Chapter 2 – I Became the Emperor’s Sleeping Pill
Entering the Imperial Palace meant death. To prevent that, all she had to do was stay away. Having reached this brilliant conclusion, Jei, now inhabiting the body of Lysei, set about manipulating the sympathetic maid, Mary, into helping her steal valuables from Baron Orphe’s estate.
The demon village of Davine, a place where the heroine and emperor shared sweet moments in the side story, seemed the perfect hideout. With the stolen funds, she planned to live a peaceful, carefree life there.
‘Since I’ve been reincarnated into this new world, why not enjoy a comfortable life of leisure?’
However, she soon realized this was a futile hope. Baron Orphe, that weasel, had summoned a dark mage and forced Lysei into becoming a Beta.
Not long after, the Baron, his face beaming with a sickeningly sweet smile, delivered shocking news. “The Imperial Palace has contacted us. They say your scent puts His Majesty the Emperor to sleep.”
It turned out that even before Lysei could escape with the stolen goods, the Baron had already sent a sample of her scent to the Palace. The incredibly efficient Imperial staff wasted no time in summoning her.
“Hurry and prepare… Mary! Bring the dress I bought earlier! Make sure everything is perfect!” the Baron shrieked, practically giddy with excitement. “Once you’re in the Palace, your only purpose is to bear the Emperor’s child. Remember that, and remember it well!”
Having heard this absurd directive countless times, Lysei gave a perfunctory nod. Any other reaction, like silence or a scoff, would only result in a painful whack from his cursed cane.
Truthfully, she could easily subdue the old man. While her current body wasn’t as strong as her original one, taking down a frail old geezer wouldn’t be a challenge. She refrained from acting on this impulse because she’d learned her lesson. After once throwing the Baron over her shoulder for his incessant caning, she was nearly killed by the estate’s servants who bound and gagged her. Since then, she’d adopted the philosophy of avoiding trouble, however unpleasant.
‘This is a disaster. I’m trapped, forced to go to the Palace,’ she thought, racking her brain for an escape plan.
As she desperately searched for a solution, the plot of the original novel and its side story came flooding back, revealing a plan worth risking her life for: the Emperor’s mother’s urn, something he was desperately searching for.
A victim of the Imperial power struggle, the late Empress’s remains were ordered to be burned to ashes. However, the heroine’s father, tasked with carrying out the order, secretly buried the urn, which the heroine continued to care for. She revealed this to the Emperor near the end of the story, after they’d fallen in love, further solidifying their bond.
‘I just need to reveal the urn’s location a little earlier,’ Jei realized. ‘It won’t affect the original story. Knowing a bit sooner won’t stop the Emperor and the heroine from falling in love. It wasn’t the urn that brought them together in the first place.’
With this plan in mind, Lysei, confident in her ability to thrive under pressure, began preparing for her trip to the Palace, completely oblivious to the events that awaited her.

“Your Majesty, the Nyxna has arrived.” The Emperor’s attendant announced Lysei’s presence.
Lounging languidly on his magnificent throne, the Emperor responded with a calm, “Let her in.”
Following the attendant inside, Lysei noted, ‘His voice is incredibly beautiful.’
“You are the Nyxna?” His smooth, deep baritone resonated through the room.
“I greet the Sun of the Empire. I am Lysei Orphe.”
“Raise your head.”
Lysei, who had been bowing since entering, slightly raised her head to look at him.
“!!”
Radiant golden hair, eyes like jewels, and features sculpted as if by a divine hand, his flawless skin seemed to glow. Lysei’s heart skipped a beat at the sight of such breathtaking beauty.
Even the lavish descriptions in the novel hadn’t prepared her for this. The Emperor in person was far more stunning than any written word could convey. He was truly a masterpiece, a work of art that rendered any praise inadequate.
In her 28 years as Jei, she’d encountered countless handsome idols and had her share of attractive lovers. Always on the prowl for the most beautiful men, her discerning eye now saw the Emperor as pure radiance.
‘How can someone this beautiful exist?’ she wondered, mesmerized. The sheer perfection of his appearance was almost suffocating. And the beauty wasn’t limited to the Emperor.
“She is the daughter of Baron Orphe,” the attendant added.
