Chapter 34
“Keep that b*stard, Theor, away from her.”
“…Ah… Right.” Zerga nodded once more.
It was the first time he’d seen Edin so changed by a woman, so Zerga was also curious about Lysei. Just what kind of woman could make the great Edin lose his mind like this? Beyond that, he was also curious how she, seemingly a Beta, exuded the scent of am Omega.
He’d noticed something odd about her scent after Theor’s visit, but it was only recently that he’d confirmed she wasn’t a Beta. He couldn’t tell Edin, though. Edin was already head over heels for Lysei, and since she seemed to have served her purpose as the Nyxna, there didn’t seem to be a problem yet, so he kept his mouth shut.
Knowing Edin’s temperament, he didn’t want to stir up trouble. Besides, if Edin knew she was an Omega, he’d immediately try to make her his Empress. It was better for him to remain ignorant for now. The madman was already trying to make her his Empress even while believing she was a Beta. He needed to calm down.

Lysei was stunned by her sudden relocation. The Rose Palace, true to its name, was breathtakingly beautiful. Roses of every color filled every corner of the palace grounds. And they were all real.
It had been the previous Emperor’s mother’s palace and had stood empty until she arrived. She wondered how they managed to keep so many fresh flowers blooming. Confined to the Rose Palace for her “recuperation,” with the entire place to herself, Lysei thought, ‘I suppose this luxury is a perk of being ill.’ It almost felt like she was the mistress of this palace.
“The Emperor has decreed that you are free to roam anywhere within the Rose Palace.”
Admiring Zerga’s striking beauty as he relayed the Emperor’s message, Lysei nodded.
“But I feel almost completely recovered now. How long am I to stay here?”
“Until His Majesty summons you back to the main palace.”
“Ah.” Lysei nodded at Zerga’s words, then paused, her face hardening. “Wait… surely I haven’t been banished here from the main palace…?”
“Absolutely not,” Zerga interrupted, shaking his head firmly.
“Oh, right.”
‘Yes, that was a silly thought.’ Until she fell ill, Edin had been practically dripping honey from his eyes, utterly smitten. He wouldn’t suddenly banish her. ‘He probably sent me away so he wouldn’t be tempted to wear me out with that magnificent body of his.’ Lysei found Edin’s thoughtfulness endearing and a smile played on her lips.
“If you need anything, please inform anyone. And you are not to leave the Rose Palace without the Emperor’s permission.”
“Yes, yes.”
“Then please rest well.”
“Goodbye.”
Lysei bowed her head and offered a loud farewell, much like a knight of the Imperial Guard. What lady of the Empire would offer such a greeting? Zerga found Lysei increasingly intriguing.
Her disguised Beta scent emitted a faint, sweet fragrance. Ordinary Alphas and Omegas wouldn’t be able to detect it, but Zerga, with his pathological aversion to Omega pheromones, could. He could distinguish the subtle, refreshing scent she exuded.
Omega pheromones were usually repulsive and agonizing for him, but Lysei’s didn’t bother him at all. He didn’t know whether it was due to the masking or if her natural pheromones were simply different. One thing was certain: she was the only Omega he, a man who had always kept Omegas at arm’s length, could tolerate being near.
It made him curious. If he were to strip away the false Beta scent and smell her true Omega pheromones, would he still feel the same? Would he not only tolerate it, but find himself drawn to it, wanting more, just as he was now?
