Chapter 36
He wanted to run to the Rose Palace, hold her in his arms. The urge was so heavy, Edin unconsciously bit his lower lip.
“His Imperial Majesty, the Emperor!”
Had the Empress already arrived? As Edin reached the door, a guard, bowing quickly at the sight of him, announced his presence loudly.
The moment the door opened, a nauseatingly thick Omega pheromone assaulted his senses. Edin instinctively raised a hand to cover his nose, his brow furrowing.
Entering the room, he saw Raz sitting on the bed in a see-through negligee, and his brow furrowed once more.
“You’ve arrived, Your Majesty.”
Though she sat with a semblance of composure, as if attempting a deliberate seduction, from Edin’s vantage point, her s*x was clearly visible.
That alone was irritating enough, but the blatant display of her bre*sts, coupled with the gesture inviting him to sit beside her, only intensified the wave of revulsion that washed over him.
Edin sighed briefly and walked towards Raz. Whether it was the pungent citrus scent filling the air or Raz’s blatant display of her nak*dness, the desire that had burned within him, almost unbearable until he’d reached this room, now cooled drastically.
With the fading desire, the fire in his loins seemed to die down as well. Edin let out an involuntary, almost bitter chuckle.
‘Even when turning into beasts, humans are still human.’
His body’s cells might be writhing with l^st, but they remained unresponsive to an undesirable partner.
“Do you see this, Empress?” Edin gestured towards his unresponsive lower body. “Even in rut, it refuses to rise. How am I supposed to spend my rut with you in this state?”
Shame flooded Raz’s face, turning it crimson.
Fearing he might not be aroused by her, even in rut, she had lit incense laced with aphr0disiacs and exuded her alluring pheromones to their fullest extent.
As if mocking her efforts, Edin’s lower body remained stubbornly still.
Even though his large member, though flaccid, still made its presence known beneath the thin fabric, its complete lack of movement was a profound humiliation.
Tears welled up in Raz’s eyes, brought on by the immense shame Edin had inflicted upon her.
“Why are you so cold to me?! I am the Empress of this Empire! Your one and only wife!”
He was the only man who had ever seen her n*ked. For him, she had swallowed her shame and donned this revealing negligee.
With a body that had never known a man, she had lit the alluring incense, agonizing over what position might stir his desire, and waited for him.
And yet…
“How can you treat me so cruelly?!”
He had finally driven her to tears.
“Do you truly not know why?” To her anguished cry, he responded not with remorse, but with a chillingly cold expression.
What had she done?
She knew he hated her father. She understood, given what her father had done.
But her father had only acted on the late Empress’s orders; she herself had nothing to do with it.
As she thought this, Edin’s voice, icy and sharp, cut through the air.
“Do you want me to recount everything you and your family did to my mother…?”
“I didn’t do anything!” Raz interrupted him, her voice rising. “My father only acted on the late Empress’s orders! There’s no reason for you to hate me for it!”
“I!” Edin roared, his voice filled with fury.
Raz flinched instinctively and looked at him. Edin’s eyes, cold as ice, bore into hers as he spoke in a low, deep voice.
“Don’t think I don’t know.”
Confusion flickered across Raz’s face.
“Don’t think I don’t know that you were aware of everything from the very beginning.”
Her heart plummeted.
He knew? How…?
Raz’s eyes darted nervously.
Was that it?
He had always seemed displeased with her from their first meeting, but he hadn’t shown such open contempt until after his mother’s death. She had sensed a drastic shift in his attitude towards her after that; was this the reason?
Raz fidgeted, unsure of what to say, what excuse to offer.
Edin, struggling to maintain his fading reason against the onslaught of his rut, rose to his feet.
“Where are you going?!” Raz cried, clutching at his robes.
“K-Keep your promise! If you leave now, the late Empress’s…”
Thwack.
Edin coldly swatted Raz’s hand away and looked down at her, his gaze frigid.
“Yes, that’s right. That damned promise.”
He muttered the words like a growl, then spun around, pushing Raz onto the bed. He climbed on top of her, easily ripping off the flimsy negligee.
Her bre*st jiggled, announcing their presence. Edin reached out and roughly grasped them.
“Ah!”
Raz’s moan grated on his nerves, but he forced himself to endure it, slowly kneading her chest.
The combined stimulation of sight and touch caused a flicker of ar0usal in his lower body, but the desire to continue was completely absent. Despite this, the lingering l*st drove his hands to continue their frantic movements against her rack.
The soft, yielding flesh in his grasp fueled the fire in his loins, only to be extinguished the moment he heard Raz’s moans and saw her face. Desire and reason warred within him, a chaotic storm raging in his mind.
